A WOMAN has hit back at those who said her DIY decking wouldn’t last by showing them that it’s still standing a year later.
Charlotte gave her garden and patio a jaw-dropping makeover when she made some decking out of abandoned pallets she’d found in a local car park.
After getting the idea last year, she set to work and created an outside space most would envy – especially considering it cost no money at all.
Charlotte then shared her garden renovation project on her TikTok account @holman_home, showing how she’d changed it from a drab, boring patio to an outside haven.
At the time, she said: “We can’t afford new slabs or decking so decided to create our own decking from free pallets.”
The DIY fan then showed how she’d pulled up her patio and created the decking by cutting up around 30 pallets into smaller pieces of wood.

But, fifteen months on, Charlotte is pleased to report to her 63k followers that the decking is still intact and has never looked better.
In a recent video, she explained that she’d completed the project in March 2022.
She then said: “I created this decking out of pallets which got a lot of negative comments saying it wouldn’t last a season.
“Roll on over a year later and still here.”
She then cut to footage of the decking in all its glory, as her garden furniture sat perfectly on it.
Charlotte also added that she had high hopes for the future, as she continued: “I’ve sanded and oil treated hopefully for another year.”
And other people said they couldn’t believe how good it looked, as they described it as “stunning” and “amazing.”
One social media user added: “Absolutely love this.
“Budget but can appreciate the hard work that would go into this.”
