Mum painstakingly revamps her kitchen using 8,000 pennies – and people are in awe over her patience

A MUM painstakingly stuck down more than 8,000 pennies to create an incredible design in her kitchen, and people are in awe over her patience.

Kitchen makeovers are all the rage right now, but rather than using vinyl stickers or fablon one woman decided she wanted a one-of-a-kind decor.

Initially she debated adding a copper feature around the cooker hood, but went the whole hog and decided to deck out her entire kitchen in pennies.

She collected a staggering 8,236 pennies – which works out to £86.36 – and spent hours gluing them onto her walls.

The entire project took two months to complete, but she’s chuffed to bits with the result now it’s finally finished.

She shared her project to Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK, where more than 6,000 people have liked her post.

She wrote: “So about 8 weeks ago we asked a bit of advice if we should go around the hood…

“Well it went global and was published. We loved it so much we carried on… thought you might like a look…

“We used 8236 pennies and it took about 9 hours to stick on and then we grouted.

“It doesn’t smell, they were cleaned, if you don’t like it… please scroll past. Thanks.”

More than 1,000 people have commented on the design, claiming she must have the patience of a saint.

One person wrote: “Really eye catching and unique – great job.”

Another said: “Tempted to have a go at this myself. Glad you went above the hood. It's finished it nicely.”

A third commented: “Love it great job you must have patience well done.”

Someone else asked: “How did you count all the pennies I would have lost count at 50.”

This person thought: “Wow that’s one expensive splash back!! But looks awesome.”

While this person added: “I wish I had the patience. It looks incredible, the whole kitchen!”

Meanwhile this mum turned her ‘awful’ wooden panelling into a family photo wall – but some blast it for looking ‘common’.

Plus this mum uses offcuts found in a skip and bargains on eBay to transform her loft bedroom into study and beauty desk.
