Nick Knowles on his first kiss, biggest regrets and what makes him angry – The Sun

NICK Knowles, 57, is best known for DIY SOS and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2018.

He talks to Fabulous about the love of his life, his all-time favourite movie and who the most famous contact on his phone is.

What scares you?

The thing I’m most scared of is being scared. I hate the idea of not doing something because I’m frightened.

What word do you overuse?

Yes. I find myself committing to so many things because it’s very difficult to say no.

What is your worst habit?

Snoring. If I eat dairy, smoke or drink too much, I snore.

Who or what is the love of your life?

My kids [Tuesday, 26, TJ, 25, Charlie, 25, Eddie, six]. Once you have them there’s nothing more important.

Who would you invite to a dinner party?

Julius Caesar, Napoleon and David Niven.

What is your experience of grief?

The loss of my father when I was 33 hit me really hard, as he was my hero and my mentor. I was doing a live TV programme when my sister called me to tell me, and I had to go back out on camera.

Who makes you laugh the most?

My six year old is making me laugh almost all the time now.

What makes you angry?

All the things that would make anybody else angry. Bigotry, social media and how people talk to each other on it today. And also how we are portrayed as a nation.

All-time favourite movie?

The Grand Budapest Hotel. It’s genius.

Favourite TV show as a child?

Catweazle. It was about a Merlin-type wizard who casts a spell and ends up in the modern day.

What is your earliest memory?

I remember running to play with my brother’s Bayko building set while he was at school and tripping and falling on to a coffee table and splitting my eye open. That’s why I’ve got a scar on my head.

What’s the worst pain you’ve experienced?

I fell off a truck in Africa in 2007 and shattered my shoulder and a couple of ribs. When I got airlifted out by a plane we hit turbulence, which shook my broken bones for 10 minutes before I passed out.

Who was your first kiss?

Her name was Diane and it was on the school bus. I was 13, we dated for six months.

What is your biggest regret?

Causing hurt to anyone I love.

What song would you have played at your funeral?

I’d want it to be dramatic, so probably the Gladiator theme by Hans Zimmer.

How do you relax?

I moved into a little cottage in the middle of nowhere two years ago, so just watering the plants or picking fresh peas from the back garden with my little boy is how I relax these days.

Who is your celebrity crush?

It will always be actress Sophia Loren. I met her when she was about 68 and she was just so amazing, so beautiful and elegant still.

What is top of your bucket list?

I would like to play a part in Peaky Blinders. I’m obsessed.

Most famous person in your phone?

Jay Sean. Me and him are old mates – he’s a great guy.
