Carrie Underwood Gets Emotional As ‘Cry Pretty’ Certified Platinum

Carrie Underwood could not control her tears of joy during the surprise presentation of the RIAA Platinum certification for her latest album, Cry Pretty, at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.

Following her CRS Artist Interview at the Omni Hotel, Underwood was surprised on stage with a Platinum plaque from UMG Nashville CEO & Chairman Mike Dungan and President, Cindy Mabe.

After receiving the plaque from the two executives of her record label, the country music icon said, “This means a lot, because I feel like this is the project that I’ve done, and the album that I’ve done, that is the most me.”

“I’m honored and I’m humbled, and God is good,” she added.

Cry Pretty was Underwood’s sixth studio album and the first she co-produced alongside David Garcia.

The critically-acclaimed album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making her the only woman to land four country albums at the top of the all-genre albums chart.
