With oodles of sequins, skimpy outfits and sexy lifts, it's no wonder the boundaries between work and love often get blurred on Dancing On Ice.
Like its BBC One rival Strictly Come Dancing , the ITV show has spelled the end for many a relationship and opened the door for several others.
From jealousies and 'faux-mances' to bitter spats that involved all of soapland – and even Kerry Katona – there's never a dull moment in the franchise's twists and turns.
With Love Island's Maura Higgins the latest to fall victim to the 'curse', Mirror Online reveals the most dramatic love scandals from the show's 14 year history…
Wes Nelson and Megan Barton Hanson
The 2019 series rang the death knell for contestant Wes Nelson and his Love Island girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson after she got the green-eyed monster over his pro partner Vanessa Bauer.
Megan kicked off royally on Instagram , accusing her love rival of being 'disrespectful' and of using her split from Wes look-a-like boyfriend Louis Nathaniel for publicity.
Wes tried to defend Meg, insisting the girls had kissed and made up. But just two weeks after Megan's outburst, she revealed they'd decided to call it quits.
"It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate," she wrote in an Instagram statement.
"We have been working hard for well under a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much, we will remain separate."
Sylvain Longchambon and Samia Ghadie
There was high drama back in 2013 when skating pro Sylvain dumped girlfriend Jennifer Metcalfe for his new pairing, Samia.
He'd got together with Hollyoaks star Jennifer when they'd danced the year before but dumped her on Christmas Day, with Jen claiming he admitted to having feelings for Samia.
Months later, newly single Samia and Sylvain finally confirmed the curse had struck and admitted they were an item, gushing: "It's love!"
And tensions boiled over the following year between the Corrie and Hollyoaks cast when Jen's co-star Georgie Porter joked that she'd be insulted if Sylvain didn't hit on her.
Clearly unimpressed, Samia tweeted: "Jorgie needn’t worry, Sylvain doesn’t go for burgers," before swiftly deleting it.
But not before Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna saw it and sniped: "Please do not call my best mate @misJORGIEPORTER a burger !!! How old r u ? GROW UP!"
Corrie heavyweights Brooke Vincent and Beverley Callard backed Samia, and even Kerry Katona stuck her two penn'orth in, tweeting: "Hey darling, think it was really unfair tonight!! Can't believe the VT they used!! Shocking!! Lots of love babe xxxx"
Beth Tweddle and Steven Cryer
Olympian gymnast Beth had been seeing boyfriend Steven Cryer for three years when she signed up for the show in 2013.
But mid-way through they announced their split, with a furious Steven blaming the show and claiming Beth ended things by text.
"I think fame has gone to Beth's head," he told The Sun on Sunday.
"But when the show ends and the bubble bursts, she'll come down to Earth with a bang. There will be no Olympics, no Dancing On Ice and I won't be there. It will just be a void."
Beth went on to marry Andy Allen in 2018 and their daughter Freya was born last year.
Danny Young and Brianne Delcourt
They weren't paired together but professional skater Brianne Delcourt still took a shine to Coronation Street actor Danny Young on the show's fifth series in 2010.
They quickly confirmed their romance and moved in together, but love is a fickle mistress and rumours of trouble in paradise began to circulate when she was paired with EastEnders' Sam Attwater the next year.
They also confirmed their relationship in the middle of the series but got accused of faking it after Sam was snapped kissing another pro skater.
Brianne Delcourt and Matt Lapinskas
It was onwards and upwards for Brianne the following year when she fell head-over-heels for her new skating partner, EastEnders actor Matt Lapinskas.
At the start of the series, Matt's girlfriend of 18 months, co-star Shona McGarty, cheered him on from the stands.
But just a few weeks in, it was all over amid rumours that Brianne and Matt were getting close.
Both initially denied it, but Brianne eventually came clean when Matt left her for another actress two years later.
"He pursued me behind Shona’s back. Lots of people warned me but I didn’t listen," she fumed to The Sun.
"I’ve stood by and lied for him about when we got together as I loved him and didn’t want to hurt Shona."
Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard
Maura announced her split from Love Island boyfriend Curtis this week amid claims her closeness to pro partner Alexander has caused problems.
According to reports, Alex's wife Carlotta – who also stars on the show – is jealous of the bond between Maura on her husband and fears the grid girl had 'turned his head'.
And just hours after confirming the end of her romance with Curtis, Maura, 29, was spotted looking 'upset' during a reportedly emotional conversation with Alex at the Riverside ice rink in Chelmsford, Essex.
There is no suggestion of any romance between the pair and Curtis had previously insisted he 'wasn't worried' in any way about their relationship because dance partners need to have a 'good connection'.
