Florida Georgia Line have dropped a new single, “I Love My Country,” the first song off their upcoming fifth album.
Banjo, heavy drum beats and electric guitars blaze right through the track, a kind of country-rock jam that has the stamp of the duo.
“We’ve been in here working on our new album, we’ve been jamming, been having a good time, and we can’t wait any longer,” Tyler Hubbard wrote in an Instagram post. “It’s time.”
Hubbard says the song’s jolly tone could be relieving during this “uncertain time.” “It brings us so much joy and makes us feel so good, and we hope it does the same for you guys,” he wrote.
“Drinkin’ beer out the can, liquor out the bottle, how the good Lord intended it, yes he did,” sings Hubbard.
“I love my country/ I love my country/ Six strings and fiddles/ Whiskey from Kentucky/ We keep it funky we like how it sounds/ Monday to Sunday, yeah, I love my country,” Hubbard and Brian Kelly sing in chorus.
Corey Crowder, who produced the song, co-wrote the lyrics with Ernest K Smith and Charlie Handsome.
The yet-to-be named new album is likely to drop this year via Nashville-based Big Machine Label Group. The duo’s previous album was Can’t Say I Ain’t Country, which was released in 2019.
