Smack dab in the middle of a pandemic may be a scary time to get pregnant, but Gigi Hadid couldn’t be happier.
According to People magazine, though the pregnancy was absolutely not planned, it was a good surprise for the supermodel and her on-again, off-again beau, Zayn Malik. Sources tell the outlet the couple are “thrilled” — not just for the baby but also at the prospect of being parents together.
A source who knows Gigi from from the fashion world paints a portrait of a couple destined to end up together — who maybe just needed this one push to finally take the plunge. The insider says:
“They’ve been through their ups and downs, but neither stopped caring about the other. They’ve jumped on the timing of having a baby and are preparing for their new lives.”
It’s always nice to see an OTP come together and not miss their window, isn’t it? Unlike many couples who get together in fits and starts, these two never seemed to have any huge red flags as to why they shouldn’t be together in the first place, like abuse or cheating.
Now a big question hovers in the air for the couple — once they start their family, will they keep going??
Both come from big families. Zayn has three sisters; besides Bella and Anwar, Gigi also has two half-sisters and five step-sisters, including Sara and Erin Foster from Barely Famous. We can’t imagine she’ll stop at one little girl.
People‘s insider agrees Gigi has always wanted a big family of her own:
“Gigi is young but always said she wants several kids. She’s sensitive and nurturing and will be a great mom.”
No doubt! In an i-D magazine interview published back in February the 25-year-old was already teasing her intentions, saying:
“I think that as I get older — well, one day I’ll start a family. I don’t know if I will always be modeling… Maybe I’ll take up full-time cooking!”
No matter what she does we bet Gigi is going to be phenomenal. But for now it’s just about getting through one day at a time.
The model confirmed the baby news to Jimmy Fallon on a special Tonight Show appearance last week, finding the positive of being pregnant in the time of quarantine, saying:
“Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and be together and really experience it day by day.”
The operative word being “together.” We’re just so glad this happened for two people who really belong at one another’s side.
