Kim Kardashian is the queen of social media with over 168 million followers on Instagram so, naturally, it’s expected that she’ll be scrutinised to high heavens every time she posts the latest selfie or KKW Beauty look.
And sometimes, Kim’s followers notice the most peculiar things such as six toes or an extra pair of hands…
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has been caught in another unfortunate social media blunder. In one of the shots from a recent campaign, Kim is seen posing in a snakeskin print outfit with matching false nails.
Nothing seems out of the ordinary at first glance, until a closer look reveals Kim’s fingers are peeking out of her jet black hair – which is odd because her original two hands are pressed against the wall. It appears the image could have been blended with another photo where she was pulling a different pose, touching her head.
Kim’s yet to speak out about the apparent Photoshop mishap but it’s not the first time she’s been criticised for her social media posts recently…
Over the weekend, the Skims founder shared a make-up tutorial to her Instagram stories where she’s applying a KKW Beauty lip gloss.
Preempting the comments, Kim acknowledged the striking difference in skin tones between her hand and face which was already heavily made up.
‘Don’t judge me for my pale hand,’ Kim told her followers.
Still, judge they did as many accused the reality star of ‘blackfishing’ – a person who presents themselves as black using deep tan or thick foundation several shades darker than their natural complexion.
It’s considered to be a form of cultural appropriation.
‘Isn’t the first rule of wearing foundation is to choose one that matches with your skin?’ one follower wondered, while another claimed: ‘This is black face. Foundation is literally five shades darker than her.’
Another questioned: ‘Why doesn’t she wear her actual skin color instead of getting shades too dark for her? Questions needs answers [sic].’
Kim, 39, was also accused of blackfishing last year on the cover of 7Hollywood magazine.
Sources close to the TV star, who has Armenian heritage, hit back at the accusations and blamed the lighting for ‘making her look darker’.
‘It’s the lighting that makes her look darker in this specific image,’ the insider told Page Six.
‘There are multiple covers and images from this shoot where the lighting looks more natural. People are so quick to find the negative in everything and also often forget that she is of Armenian descent.’
As for Kimmy’s Photoshop fails, her eagle-eyed followers haven’t missed those either.
Last August, fans were convinced Kim had six toes in a campaign shoot with her younger sister Kylie Jenner.
The fashionable AF fragrance campaign saw them wearing matching pastel, one-legged bodysuits.
With one full leg covered down to the toe, it left one of their legs exposed and clad in a clear sandal.
Which is where this mystery of the phantom appendage begins. You see, some fans seem to think if you look closely it appears as if Kim has six of them. On one foot.
And the mystery was never solved.
Then there were the times she Photoshopped her children into snaps, of course. Realising that people would notice how odd North might have looked just tagged onto the end, Kim got ahead of the criticism and explained why her eldest was edited in afterwards.
‘It was a time thing and it was hard to wrangle everyone together so I said I’ll just do my own family…,’ Kim explained.
