Maura Higgins furiously denies fling claims with married Dancing on Ice partner

Maura Higgins has slammed claims she is dating her married Dancing on Ice skating partner Alexander Demetriou.

The Love Island babe, 29, took to Twitter to deny the reports after Alex, 28, was reportedly pictured leaving her home this weekend.

Rumours of the nature of the pair's bond have been rife after Maura announced she split from Curtis Pritchard ahead of the live final, and Alex’s marriage is said to have collapsed last week.

But she begged people to "get over" the rumours and said the pair are simply friends, as she furiously denied the stereotype that men and women can't be anything but a couple.

Maura tweeted: "2020 & yet again a man & woman can not be friends!

"Me & Alex are friends + joe and I are friends!

"YES I have more male friends than female! GET OVER IT!!!"

Alexander is married to Canadian skate star – and fellow Dancing on Ice professional – Carlotta Edwards.

The Sun claimed the pictures of him leaving Maura's home would "devastate" Carlotta.

A source said: "This will devastate Carlotta. As much as her relationship with Alex has deteriorated, they are still married."

The report added: "She was hanging on to a hope they might be able to fix the unfixable. But it seems very clear there won't be a way back."

Alex and Carlotta's marriage is said to have come to an end last week in the hours leading up to the live final of Dancing On Ice 2020.

It was claimed that the couple hadn't been happy together for months, with reports suggesting that his close bond with Maura sealed the deal for Carlotta.

Maura has always denied that they are anything more than friends.
