It wouldn’t be a Kanye West fashion presentation without some sort of staggering moment of surprise. And I cannot deny that my jaw indeed—dropped—when West’s six-year-old daughter, North West, took to the mic to close the hip-hop mogul’s Yeezy Season 8 runway show.
The fashion show in itself was a monochromatic array of oversized puffer coats, furry flared pants, crop tops, and off-kilter fuzzy footwear ready to brave the fiercest Wyoming winter. The star of the entire presentation, however, was none other than Miss North West.
The track that North was riffing upon is reported to be “What I Do” by the four-year-old musician ZaZa. North confidently took control of the stage while models took their last walks around the runway, effortlessly performing riveting lyrics such as, “Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Cute. Yeah. Yeah. … What are those!” North has made brief appearances—dancing and singing—like at West’s signature Sunday Service performances, but the Yeezy Season 8 show marks the six-year-old’s first center stage singing moment.
North’s debut performance follows a weekend of showstopping looks worn alongside her mother, Kim Kardashian West, and we have a feeling, this won’t be the last time we hear from the burgeoning musical prodigy.
