The ‘Nice to Meet Ya’ singer teams up with ‘Undrunk’ hitmaker Fletcher to put a rock spin on Taylor’s hit, which they unveil during his Spotify Singles session.
AceShowbiz –Taylor Swift gives her stamp of approval to Niall Horan‘s cover of her single “Lover”. Shortly after the One Direction member released his version of the title track from her 2019 album, the “Me!” hitmaker turned to social media to share her thought on his duet with Fletcher.
On Wednesday, March 4, the 30-year-old songstress made use of her Instagram Story handle to share the “Slow Hands” singer’s rock transformation of her track. Applauding the effort, she praised, “This is absolutely STUNNING.” She added, “@niallhoran & @findingxfletcher LOVE YOU GUYS.”

Horan’s reinvention of “Lover” with his 25-year-old labelmate gave a rock ballad-twist to Swift’s Grammy-nominated song. Recorded at London’s Air Studios, it was released as part of the Spotify Singles series. Along with it, Horan also dropped a new version of his own song, “No Judgement”.
Speaking about his Spotify Singles session itself, the “This Town” singer said in a statement, “Always love being asked to get involved in the Spotify Singles sessions. It’s nice to get out of the comfort zone and try something different.”
“When it came to deciding what song I was going to do, there was only one option for me,” the ex-boyfriend of Hailee Steinfeld continued. ” ‘Lover’ is one of my favorite songs I’ve heard in a long time and Taylor is a good friend. Let’s hope she likes it.”
On the day his Lover version was made available, Horan shared with his Twitter follower, “Great day recording a live version of no judgement and a cover of Lover by the lovely @taylorswift13 for @Spotify singles sessions.” Retweeting his post, his collaborator Fletcher wrote, “got to reimagine @taylorswift13’s perfect pop song Lover with the lovely @NiallOfficial.”
The Irish singer shared the behind the scene of the recording.
“Lover” is Swift’s third single form her seventh studio album. Released in August 2019, it peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100. About the album itself, Swift has previously opened up to “Good Morning America” Robin Roberts, “One thing about this album that’s really special to me is that it’s the first one that I will own of my work.”
