Five creative chocolate egg hiding hacks for an Easter hunt in lockdown

This year’s Easter celebration is likely to be one that we will always remember owing to the fact that it will be spent under lockdown. However, just because we all have to stay inside doesn’t mean we should miss out on the fun… it just means we have to be a little more inventive.

Luckily, everyone’s favourite chocolate brand Cadbury is on hand to help with these creative hacks on hiding Easter eggs in a fun way to lift the spirits of your housemates or children. Here are their top five tips…

Hide it in plain sight in a milk container

Used all your milk? Clean out an empty container and use this as a hiding spot. Remove the label and gently cut the bottle in half – place the Easter egg inside the bottom half and then put the second half back on the top. Reattach the label over the seal where the two halves overlap and place the bottle in the fridge to hide.

Hide an Easter Egg in a watermelon

This hack is sure to go down well, not only do you get a cool hydrating treat for later, but you have an exotic way to hide your eggs. Firstly, scoop out the inside of a watermelon to create a wide enough space to hide an egg.

Then once you’re happy with the space created, wrap your Easter egg in cling film, pop it inside and cover it back up with the other half of the watermelon. Place the watermelon with the rest of your fruit and watch your friends and family struggle trying to find this hidden treasure!

Use old post

Then take another envelope put some glue on it and stick on top of the base envelope. Repeat this until you have a stack.Grab an egg and hold over the letter to form the outline of an egg shape and cut out the egg shape.

Take out circular stack and pop the egg inside the hole and stick one more letter on the top of the egg to hide it well. Hide this on the kitchen table or on the landing, wherever letters tend to be in the house to have this one hiding in plain sight.

Bake it in a cake

If you’ve been perfecting your baking, then this hack is one you’re going to love. Take your cake baking skills to the next level and hide an egg in one! Either prepare a freshly baked cake of your choice, or take an pre made one, and cut an egg shaped hole in the middle of it.

Create a cylindrical tube that the egg can sit inside and also hold up the structure of the cake round the outside and above. Then take a final layer and put on top to conceal the egg and cylinder.

To really up the ante, use buttercream and sprinkles to keep this Easter egg hidden for a little longer.

This hack is such a quick and easy way to hide eggs. You might think to check a pocket, but you’ve probably never thought about the sleeve!

All you need to do is take a jumper or coat sleeve and place the egg, then use a rubber band or hair tie to wrap around the end of the sleeve to tie it closed, so the egg can’t fall out.
