How to set up a video call in Google Meet:

Begin by clicking the app icon, resembling a video camera, to open the dashboard.

You will then see the settings icon in the screen’s upper right-hand corner.

Clicking this icon opens a view window showing your device’s audio and webcam, allowing you to test them.

This is a good way to make sure the tools required to host a video conference are working.

Then when you are ready to create a meeting, just click Join or start a meeting.

You will be asked to enter a meeting code if you are joining an existing meeting, or to title the meeting you are creating.

On this screen, you will have one more opportunity to ensure your device’s audio and video capabilities are working.

On the right-hand side of the view screen, click Join now to start your meeting.

A window will pop up with your meeting information and a link to Add people.

Clicking this will list all people in your Gmail contacts along with a field to invite others not in your contacts.

After choosing who to invite, click Send Invitation, providing a link to all attendees.

If you are the presenter, you should see tools for conducting your conference.

In the bottom right-hand corner, click the three dots to offer the option to Record the meeting.

You can also include captions for any hearing-impaired attendees.

Also at the bottom of the screen, you will also see Present now.

Clicking this offers the option to share your screen and anything you have displayed there, including slide presentations and videos.

Two icons are also visible at the top of the Google Meet screen.

The first counts the number of attendees currently in your meeting.

Clicking this will show you who is attending and if they are muted or not.

You can also send a quick invite or reminder to anyone you see has forgotten to join.

The second icon opens the chat features, which is helpful for keeping tabs on questions being asked by muted participants.

You can also share documents, links, and images through the Google Meet chat feature.
