In a study with the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, the effects of pomegranate juice on blood pressure was investigated.
The study noted: “Pomegranate juice is a polyphenol-rich fruit juice with high antioxidant capacity.
“Several studies suggested that pomegranate juice can exert antiatherogenic, antioxidant, anti hypersensitive and anti-inflammatory effects.”
The study concluded that pomegranate juice consumption helped with significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

Foods to avoid
Salt and sodium are the biggest villains when it comes to high blood pressure.
Some of the saltiest foods include deli meat, frozen pizza, vegetables juices, canned soup and canned or bottled tomato products. Excessive sugar products are another culprit when it comes to high blood pressure.
The American Heart Association recommends that women limit their added sugar intake to six teaspoons or 24 grams per day.
Men should restrict themselves to nine teaspoons or 36 grams per day.
