How many house plants is too many? Um, there’s no such thing, duh! If you’re like us, you’ve jumped into the indoor gardening trend with no reservations. These days it’s totally normal to have like 30 succulents in your living room, and IKEA is finally getting in on the trend with their new BOTANISK collection.
The BOTANISK collection features pots, baskets, and more that were handmade by more than 5600 artisans who live in India, Thailand, Syria, Jordan, and Romania.
The linens in the collection, which include hand towels, aprons, rugs, and other textiles that might come in handy when you’re creating your own personal indoor jungle, are made with materials like jute, cotton, and banana fibers.
IKEA may have a reputation for being mass-produced, but for this collection, the company wanted to go a different route.
“The entire collection is made with people in mind. We’ve constantly had to consider that these products are made by people and not machines – and therefore think about how to make it fun and rewarding for the artisans to produce the designs we are after. From start to finish the process has been all about the collaboration, developing the items together,” says Maria O’Brian, creative leader at IKEA.
The 15-item collection is very affordable, with prices between $4.99 – $29.99. These are some of our favorites.
