The Duchess of Cambridge debuted two new pairs of earrings in her back-to-back royal engagements yesterday.

Kate Middleton, 38, last night dazzled in a pair of blue crystal and pearl earrings by British label Erdem, which perfectly complemented her sparkling sapphire Jenny Packham gown.

The appearance came hours after the royal showcased a stunning set of diamond and ruby earrings as part of a burgundy ensemble at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

The new jewels gave Kate a stylish way to update two outfits that she has worn on previous occasions.

At the Commonwealth Day service, Kate wore the earrings with a Catherine Walker coat dress that she wore to church on Christmas Day at Sandringham.

The earrings are thought to be part of a suite of diamond and ruby jewels that she received as a wedding present from an unknown well-wisher.

The set, known as the Mouawad Ruby and Diamond Demi-Parure, also includes a bracelet and necklace that the Duchess has only worn on one previous occasion in 2011.

Little else is known about the set, including the price, but it proved the perfect addition to Kate’s monochrome look yesterday.

For her evening engagement, the Duchess swapped stunning royal jewels for a pair of earrings from one of her go-to labels.

It suggests the Duchess might have kept the jewels in her wardrobe, waiting for just the right outfit to wear them with.

Yesterday it came in the form of a Jenny Packham gown, previously valued at around £3,500, which she first wore at the Bollywood Gala in Mumbai on her and Prince William’s royal tour of India and Bhutan in 2016.

Kate looked radiant Monday evening, with a glowing complexion and a refreshed make-up look which saw her don a slick of liquid eyeliner on her top lid and a nude lip gloss.

During the reception the Duchess of Cambridge met two school choirs who performed at the event, as well as Place2Be supporters.
