A celebration to Neighbours’ past would be quite complete without a nod to the icon that is Kylie Minogue, and the Channel 5 soap paid tribute to the songstress’ time in Ramsay Street in the best way possible.
During the final daytime instalment of the 35th anniversary week — broadcast yesterday — Jane Harris (Annie Wallace) married her old flame Des Clarke (Paul Keane) in an incredibly emotional ceremony — one which was held by none other than Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis).
As the pair said their vows, they were pronounced husband and wife, and thus shared a passionate celebratory kiss in a scene that was accompanied by Kylie’s track ‘Golden’.
The song — which was the third single of Kylie’s fab ‘Golden’ album — was released two years ago, and the lyrics went hand-in-hand with Des and Jane’s narrative, as the two lovers prepared to begin a new chapter of their lives together.
Longtime Neighbours fans will know that Kylie famously portrayed Charlene Robinson in the iconic soap from 1985 to 1988, before leaving and becoming one of the world’s biggest recording artists.
However, Kylie wasn’t the only throwback which featured during the soap’s celebratory 35th anniversary week, as there were several Easter eggs and nods to days gone by for longtime viewers to enjoy, which you can check out here.
Neighbours continues Monday 23rd March at 1:45pm and 5:30pm on Channel 5.
