Michael Bublé’s wife says he received death threats over the controversial video of the singer elbowing her — what the couple says was a playful gesture, but some fans saw a sign of “abuse.”
“You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who sent me photos with weapons saying they were going to kill Mike when he reached Argentina,” said Luisana Lopilato, 32, in a radio interview with Intrusos in Argentina.
She said the images included “knives” and “people laughing and saying they were going to cut off his fingers, leave a bomb for us or give him a beating.”
The video, posted last month on Instagram, showed Bublé, 44, nudging his wife with his elbow and grabbing her arm.
Others also shared a separate Instagram Live clip, in which Bublé can be heard telling his wife, “I’m going to kill you.”
Some fans who thought his behavior appeared overly aggressive jumped to the mom of three’s defense.
Lopilato denied any abuse in the relationship and fiercely defended Bublé in response to the backlash.
“I want you to know that I have no doubts who my husband is and I would choose him a thousand times more!! It’s not fair!” she said in April. “Fortunately, I am not suffering.”
