The summer is (finally) on its way, which means al fresco drinks, music festivals, and that much loved summer holiday.
But with budgets tighter than ever, we all want a getaway that won’t break the bank.
Well, it turns out that a popular spot for a European city break, is also the best value.
Portugal’s capital city, Lisbon, has been revealed as the best value destination in Europe by Post Office Travel Money.
It’s the first time Lisbon has claimed the top spot in the annual report, with the total cost for two nights in the Mediterranean spot coming in at just £244.76.
And despite the cost of living crisis, prices are only 2% up on last year’s levels – a much smaller increase than for most of the other cities surveyed.
Post Office Travel Money’s City Costs Barometer for 2023, reveals which cities in Europe are the best value destinations at the moment.
The report takes into account a number of factors, including the price of a three-course meal, travel card, and tickets to major attractions.
These are then combined with the average cost of a two night’s stay at a three star accommodation.
