Ariana Grande Let Her Ponytail Down in the 'Rain On Me' Music Video With Lady Gaga

If there were a prize for most instantly recognizable celebrity hairstyle, the Ariana Grande ponytail would easily win. Since 2018, however, following her cover for British Vogue, the singer has been letting her hair down more—quite literally. And while she’s attributed that love in the past to the hair damage her pony hides, she explained on Twitter that it’s more than that. Life just isn’t the same without it: “My God, going back to a high pony after a few days of not wearing a high pony is a remarkable feeling,” she wrote. “I’m just supposed to have a high pony u know? Some things are just meant to be and this is jus one of those things.”

We stan; we respect a signature style. But also, as Grande proves every time she wears her hair down or gives a rare look at her curls, mixing it up is rarely a bad thing. Need more convincing? Review the photographic evidence.

The Ariana Grande ponytail definitely made an appearance in the new music video for her and Lady Gaga’s new hit, “Rain On Me.” However, Grande also let her hair (and extensions) flow free throughout the explosive dance number. Grande was all smiles every time the camera landed on her sans pony, and those blond highlights really popped. Watch for yourself, below:

In November 2019, Grande showed off her natural (extension-free!) hair texture in a video on her Instagram stories. Every so often she’ll give fans a glimpse of naturally curly hair, and each time the response is the same: hyper-enthusiastic pleas for the singer to wear her hair that way more often. Can you blame them?

The “Thank U, Next” singer let her hair down for the Chicago stop on her 2019 Sweetener world tour. Fans online freaked out, calling for Grande to wear her hair down for the rest of her tour. We’d sign that petition. It was the first time she’d worn her hair down for a performance in almost a year.

A wig, sure, but she makes blunt bangs look good.

And here it is down on that aforementioned British Vogue cover.

Then there was the time in September 2015 when she revealed her natural curls on Instagram and fans everywhere freaked out.

Ari’s hairstylist, Daniel Chinchilla, also provides occasional glimpses of the singer in a pony-free state.

Then there was this rare topknot moment…

…and double buns standing in for the ponytail.

Then, of course, we have the requisite pre-sleep bedhead selfie. Because you can’t be a member of Hollywood without posting at least one of those.

She memorably let her hair down while performing at the MTV EMAs in 2014.

And for the 2014 holiday season, she had this cat-ear-headband moment.

At the 2014 Kids’ Choice Awards, she wore this smoothed-out blowout.

And at the 2013 L.A. show, she took her hair all the way down.

For the annual Jingle Ball concert in L.A. in 2012, she went half back with bouncy curling-iron waves.

At the following year’s Jingle Bell concert, in Dallas, she wore her hair mostly loose with sweet braid accents.

Lady GaGa Admits to Challenging Ariana Grande to Sing While Watching Her Dance

Aside from praising her ‘Rain on Me’ collaborator, the ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker reveals that she sent Billie Eilish flowers after the ‘Bad Guy’ singer won big at one awards show.

AceShowbizLady GaGa put her “Rain on Me” duet partner Ariana Grande on the spot by asking her to sing, while she performed an interpretive dance in front of her.

The “Poker Face” star admits her new pal had no idea what to expect when GaGa asked her to join her in the studio – and she really tested her.

“I think maybe she assumed that it’d be that she came in and I was like, ‘Here, just sing this and thank you so much for your time,'” Gaga tells Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “but instead I asked her what she needed, how she wanted to do things…

“I said to her, ‘OK, now everything that you care about while you sing, I want you to forget it and just sing. And by the way, while you’re doing that, I’m going to dance in front of you’, because we had this huge big window…

“She was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God. I can’t. I can’t. I don’t know. Oh my God. OK, OK’. And then I did it and she sang, and she started to do things with her voice that was different. And it was the joy of two artists going, ‘I see you…’ We create things that make us feel comfortable. We put them all around. I do it all the time. We all do things to make ourselves feel safe.

“I always challenge artists when I work with them. I go, ‘Make it unsafe, make it super f**king unsafe and then do it again’. And it was just awesome to watch her.”

During the interview with Lowe, GaGa also heaped praise on Billie Eilish, revealing she sent her flowers after one awards show where the “Bad Guy” singer piled up the wins.

“There was one night where she just swept a whole bunch of awards and I said, ‘Send her some flowers’. I wrote her a note and, for me, it’s healing, because I go, ‘You know what? That hurt me that I didn’t get that, but that’s OK, because I’m going to be that for someone else’. And me being that for anyone is also a gift for me.”

Ariana Grande Feels Offended by TikTok Impersonations of Her

The ‘Thank U, Next’ singer lets her actual feelings about TikTok users doing impressions of her famous TV character Cat Valentine be known as she calls them ‘degrading its entire value.’

AceShowbizAriana Grande isn’t flattered by impersonations of her. After a slew of TikTok users went viral with clips of them doing impressions of the singer/actress as her “Victorious” and “Sam & Cat” character Cat Valentine, the 26-year-old star let out her actual feelings about those videos.

On Thursday, April 23, the Grammy Award-winning artist shared on Instagram Stories a post by actor and writer Jordan Firstman in which he did various impressions. In one of his videos, however, he criticized meme makers for trivializing moments that are critical to an artist’s career and flipping them to make something else that lacks meaning.

“What if we, like, we took a moment, like a small clip from a movie or a TV show. Something that, like, an artist really poured their soul into and it, like, it just took them years to make….What if we took a moment from that and we kind of, like, recontextualized it-like, does that make sense?” he said in the video. “And we put a completely arbitrary meaning onto that thing that the artist loves so much? Kind of, like, degrading its entire value.”

Agreeing with Jordan, Ariana captioned her post, “Omg can this please also double as your impression of the ponytail TikTok girls who think doing that Cat Valentine voice and that wearing winged eyeliner and a sweatshirt is doing a good impersonation of me…’cause this really how it feels….” She added, ” ‘Degrading its entire value’ I screamed.”

Ariana Grande comments on TikTok impersonations of her.

Prior to this, Ariana responded after TikTok creator Paige Niemann’s viral impression of her character Cat caught her attention in November 2019. Apparently seeing it as cringey, she commented on the video, “i just wonder whyyyy the cat voice / dialogue. [crying emoji] i am sure she is the sweetest sweet sweetheart forreal !! but it’s definitley bizarre seeing people blend the two worlds lmao.”

Ariana Grande Was Her Own Backing Choir For Her Disney Singalong Performance

No chance, no way, Ariana Grande won’t say she’s in love. On Thursday (April 16), the singer put her own spin on the beloved Hercules tune “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” as part of ABC’s star-studded Disney Family Singalong. And because she was nothing but fully committed to the part, Ari even dressed the part of Hercules’s sassy lover Meg — ponytail, purple ‘fit, and all.

“No man is worth the aggravation / That’s ancient history; been there, done that,” Grande sang, channeling a little bit of that Thank U, Next energy with her stellar cover choice. Ever the harmony enthusiast, she even handled the backup vocals from all five of the Muses, giving us a creative one-woman show for the ages.

Along with Grande, the Disney Family Singalong featured an all-star roster of celeb performers covering classic tunes from their homes. Demi Lovato and Michael Bublé tackled the Cinderella duet “A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes,” Christina Aguilera belted the Lion King ballad “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and Beyonce made a surprise appearance to sing a bit of “When You Wish Upon A Star.” The High School Musical cast also reunited for a nostalgia-inducing singalong of “We’re All in This Together.”

Other performers included Tori Kelly, Darren Criss, Jordan Fisher, Auliʻi Cravalho, Little Big Town, and TikTok star Charli D’Amelio. And it was all for a good cause — the special raised money for coronavirus relief efforts like Feeding America.

Check out Grande’s harmonious “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” performance above.
