Line of Duty season 6: DS Steve Arnott’s fate ‘revealed’ as big spoiler dropped

Line of Duty fans are eagerly awaiting news of when they can expect the latest series of the BBC police drama. Viewers were disappointed when show creator Jed Mercurio announced filming of season six had been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, fans are still eager to find out how the drama will play out in the upcoming series and DS Steve Arnott star Martin Compston has given a rare insight into future storylines.

Line of Duty bosses are well known for killing off fan favourite characters without little warning.

DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan (Craig Parkinson) was killed off in series five but not before tapping out a message in Morse code to blow the investigation into ‘H’ wide open.

The detective had been shot in his chest and although he couldn’t speak he used Morse code to relay the revelation that ‘H’ is a group of people.

As fans look forward to the next series, many fear another detective could be heroically killed off.

  • Line of Duty: Steve Arnott’s death ‘revealed’?

However, actor Martin has hinted his character could be safe as he confessed he “trusts” the show creator completely.

“At this point, we have all got six series out of it and I don’t think any of us could have foreseen that,” Martin told The Herald.

“The initial idea was three series. Then five. So, the fact it is six? There’s talk already of seven, but Jed takes it one at a time, that is the way he has always done it.

“He has been an incredible influence on my career. I owe my career to Ken Loach and Jed Mercurio.”

Martin admitted he has faith in Jed over the future of his character and wouldn’t “complain” if it was his time to leave.

He continued: “I know Jed wouldn’t kill me off for the sake of it or shock value. It would be because he thought it would be the best way to take the story forward.

“I trust him completely. If it happens, I wouldn’t complain. I would be gutted and miss the guys, but we have got nearly 10 years out of it.”

Line of Duty fans will have to wait a while for the series to return but Martin promised it will be worth the wait.

Martin said: “I don’t want to sound like a band trying to punt their new album and saying this is the best ever but every year, I think, ‘Is this going to be the one that is just not quite as good?’

“And then Jed ups it a level. I don’t know how he does it, his consistency is incredible.

“I’m buzzing about where the story is going this year. It is very reassuring to know, ‘As long as we don’t mess this up, we have another hit on our hands.’”

Meanwhile, will Steve, DI Kate Flemming (Vicky McClure) and Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) finally get to the bottom of the ‘H’ mystery?

  • Martin Compston wife: Did you spot this Line of Duty easter egg?

The latest clue was flagged up by Steve in the series five finale when he figured out Dot’s dying message.

“Dot was trying to tell us something before he lost consciousness. He couldn’t speak due to the gunshot wound to his chest, but he could move his hand. Tap tap tap tap. Tap tap tap tap. It’s Morse code. Dot dot dot dot,” he explained.

“The letter H in Morse code is four dots,” added Steve. “‘H’ is not an initial, it’s a clue. Four dots. Four caddies. Four police staff in league with organised crime.”

The detective wasn’t trying to expose one individual’s name as originally thought but trying to reveal that ‘H’ is in a group made up of several members.

Line of Duty season one to five are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

‘Couldn’t run a bath, let alone the country!’ Ex-Brexit Party MP slams Labour in outburst

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was last night moved into an intensive care unit in hospital as he continues his battle against coronavirus. As such, the Prime Minister was very much the topic of discussion on Jeremy Vine today as the TV presenter discussed with former Brexit Party MP Martin Daubney and journalist Ash Sarkar what the future holds for the UK government and Labour’s potential involvement.

There has been some suggestion a National Government would be the appropriate step forward during the ongoing pandemic.

Therefore, Jeremy was tasked with putting this idea forward to his guests on the Channel 5 show.

However, Martin found himself amused by the suggestion before Jeremy could even pose the question.

Jeremy opened the debate by saying: “There has been some speculation among Labour and Tory MPs about the idea even before Mr Johnson was admitted to hospital,”

  • Queen sends message to NHS workers ‘in challenging circumstances’

He added: “And the new Labour leader Keir Starmer has not totally ruled it out.

“He’s just, of course, named his shadow cabinet. You will have seen people like Ed Miliband coming back who may be able to help in this crisis…”

Jeremy soon stopped his monologue as he found himself distracted by laughter coming from Martin.

The Channel 5 host then quizzed the former Brexit Party MP directly: “You don’t think so, Martin, no?”

Clearly amused by Labour’s decision to reemploy Ed, Martin sarcastically hit back: “Yeah, in Britain’s hour of need, let’s get back Ed Miliband,

“The guy who was obliterated in 2015 and was the reason millions of voters who had voted Labour all their lives, including myself, abandoned the Labour party.

“I think we’ve got to be really, really careful here of how this is perceived,

“I’m speaking as a former politician who knocked on thousands of doors during the General Election campaign in December.

“This isn’t about politicians right now, this isn’t about splitting power or some craven political land-grab by the Labour party who cannot get elected by legitimate means, all day long!”

Martin continued his outburst: “Their politics have been soundly rejected – we don’t even have a united Labour party at the moment!

“Momentum are tearing the party apart, Keir Starmer has just kicked out a load of Corbynistas,

“Most people wouldn’t trust that lot to run a bath, let alone the country!”

The former politician finished his rant by saying: “Now is not the time for more politics.”

Jeremy moved the debate on following Martin’s scathing and comprehensive rant.

The Channel 5 show went on to address whether non-essential deliveries should be banned as well as the latest on Prine Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity.

Jeremy Vine continues every weekday at 9:15am on Channel 5.

How Prince Harry Impacted Meghan Markle’s ‘Elephant’ Gig (Exclusive)

With Meghan Markle’s highly-anticipated first post-royal gig having just debuted, ET has learned how the former Suits star nailed her performance — with some help from Prince Harry.

Markle, 38, narrated the new Disney+ nature documentary, Elephant, which premiered on Friday.

The job marked her first professional endeavor since she and Harry, announced they would step down as senior members of the royal family. The exit came into play on Mar. 31, just days before the premiere of Elephant, which follows a herd of elephants journeying to find water in Africa.

Meghan recorded her top-secret voiceover at London’s Pinewood Studios in October.

And, her 35-year-old prince was along for the ride, according to the documentary’s director and producer, Mark Linfield. But while he may have been watching from the “cheap seats,” that didn’t stop him offering his two cents on her delivery!

“We had Harry from the cheap seats in the back sort of suggesting some alternative pronunciations,” Linfield shared.

“Only on the African words because obviously he’s spent so much time in Botswana,” the documentary’s producer, Vanessa Berlowitz, clarified.

Producer, Roy Conli, noted that the couple’s son, Archie, was “still a wee lad,” at the time of the recording session.

The family have since commenced their new life away from England, first heading to Canada and now settling into the Los Angeles area.

ET has been told that the pair are “happier and more relaxed” as they adjust to their new West Coast life. “They are spending time as a family and taking a break away from the spotlight,” a source said.

Although Harry is said to be missing his family, the source said he has been “staying in his touch with his father and loves his grandmother.”

The distance has likely been more difficult due to his father, Prince Charles, recently battling COVID-19.

ET learned on Monday that Charles has now reunited with wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, after she completed 14 days of isolation following his diagnosis.

'The Voice': Blake Shelton's Battle Round Steal Is a Show First

Season 18 of The Voicehas featured some incredible talent so far — and a few show-stopping firsts!

Monday’s all-new episode saw the coaches’ team going head-to-head in the final Battle Rounds, where hopeful singers performed a duet in order to see who would earn their spot to stay on in the competition.

The final battle of the night was a hotly-anticipated matchup before two powerful performers from John Legend’s team: Cedrice and Thunderstorn Artis. Legend and his team mentor, Ella Mai, coached the singers through their performance of “Stay” by Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko, and the result was a sultry showdown that left Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas wowed — and not envious of the choice Legend had to make.

Ultimately, Legend picked Thunderstorm to “stay” on his team, but what happened next might be a Voice first. After Cedrice stunned the coaches by thanking them for “whatever it is that you have all experienced — all the hardship, all the sacrifices — thank you for going through it to be here with us,” Shelton made his move, hitting the “Save” button to bring her aboard his team. In response, Legend, Clarkson and Jonas all got up to applaud and congratulate the country star for using the season’s final Battle save on the impressive songstress.

“I’ve been on this show for five seasons now. At no time ever have all three other coaches been like, ‘Yes!'” Clarkson said of the unique steal. “Like, we all wanted to steal you! That was amazing.”

“I’ve been sitting here with this steal, and I knew there had to be a moment coming, and it turns out to be you,” Shelton marveled to Cedrice, later telling the cameras, “The thing that I love the most about Cedrice is that she seems to be on a different plane than everybody else — her singing, her charisma. We’re definitely an odd pairing, but sometimes that’s made for some of the greatest coach-artist moments in the history of this show.”

Gogglebox fans baffled as fan-favourite star is replaced ‘Where is she?’

Gogglebox is every fan’s guilty pleasure – what better way to spend your evening than watching other people watch TV? But hey, it works and we love it. But fans were left slightly baffled when a newcomer replaced an old favourite.

The Channel 4’s popular reality series has sprung a fair few faces into the spotlight that have gone on to do other things in the world of TV, such as Scarlett Moffatt who also went on to win I’m A Celeb in 2016, and present a new show The Tribe Next Door with her family.

But on Friday evening’s show, fans realised one of their much-loved cast members was missing.

Izzi and Ellie Warner became strong fan-favourites when they joined series 6, but Izzi was a no-show in last week’s episode.

Due to the government’s latest advice on coronavirus, the lockdown meant the mum-of-two was unable to visit her sister’s house in order to film.

  • Gogglebox star Sandra Martin ‘in tears’ as sister-in-law dies

The strict rules led to an unfamiliar face taking her place, in the form of Ellie’s boyfriend Nat.

Taking to Twitter, viewers share their viewers on the new substitution.

One said: “Izzi is looking different #Gogglebox.”

Another added: “Right, who’s that next to my Ellie? I’m not happy.”

“Ellie & Nat are cute but it’s not the same without Izzi,” a third exclaimed.

A fourth commented: “Aw, I’m really missing the Ellie/Izzi duo on #Gogglebox tonight.”

Despite the global pandemic causing productions across the nation (and the world) to shut down and pause filming, Channel 4 revealed they would continue to film the show but without a camera crew in order to protect their workers and cast.

Ian Katz, director of programming at the broadcaster said: “The coronavirus outbreak is an enormous creative challenge for all broadcasters and though it is having a profound impact on getting some of our productions onto screen, it’s also a time when public service broadcasters like Channel 4 can step up and help people navigate through the extraordinary challenges we all now face.”

But Ellie and Izzi aren’t the only stars affected by the ongoing pandemic that’s brought the world to a stand-still.

Last week, former Gogglebox star Sandra Martin revealed in one week she lost five people close to her due to the deadly disease.

The 58-year-old telly favourite shared a picture of her sobbing on Twitter as she delivered the grave news that her sister-in-law’s daughter had died.

  • Gogglebox viewers in uproar as stars ‘break’ self-isolation rules

Speaking to, Sandra explained: “She did have underlying health issues before she passed away and my brother, who is now in self-isolation is absolutely devastated by it.

“When I found out I started to cry and my daughter told me to pack my bags so I am staying with her in Brixton at the moment.”

Gogglebox returns Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.

Tiger King’s Joe Exotic on Carole Baskin prison sentence: ‘I’m ashamed of myself’

Joe Exotic, who’s real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, 57, has admitted he is “ashamed” of himself for keeping wild animals locked up after always defending his actions for years. The 57-year-old is serving his 22-year sentence for plotting to murder animal rights activist, Carole Baskin, 58.

I’m ashamed of myself.

Joe Exotic

The Netflix star told Netflix from prison that he is “done” with his previous attitude towards animals and is “ashamed” of his behaviour.

He said in a video that was shared from Netflix’s Twitter account: “Go sit in a cage with your animals for a week.

“I mean, when I left the zoo and sent my chimpanzees to the sanctuary in Florida and imagined what my chimpanzees went through for 18 years, I’m ashamed of myself.”

The zoo owner then went on to express his thoughts on Carole Baskin, the animal rights activist who he “planned to murder”.

Joe continued: “I’m done with the Carole Baskin saga.

“It’s now time to turn the tables and Joe get out of jail a free man and exonerated from all these charges.”

The tiger breeder added: “You know it would be nice if I could actually see me being famous out there but I’ve seen these same four walls for a year and a half now.”

One fan and viewer of the documentary wrote in response: “Joe isn’t mentally ill, he’s just a person who got caught up in a messed up community.”

Another added: “#KeepJoeInJail – just because Carole’s issues are different, Jeff Lowe’s a crook, and other people cage and mistreat exotic animals, doesn’t make Joe innocent.”

Meanwhile, one said they “want to see what he’ll do” as they wrote: “I just want him out to see what he’ll do.

“I still believe Jeff pushed him to hire someone so that he’ll take the zoo.”

Joe is in prison for his 22-year sentence which he is pleading innocent, according to UniLad.

The Mirror reported there is a chance Joe had contracted coronavirus in prison and has been self-isolating, according to a report from prison.

This comes after some inmates at his previous prison tested positive for covid-19.

Joe’s fourth husband, Dillon Passage, 24, previously spoke out as he was concerned that Joe could potentially have the deadly bug, according to The Mirror.

Dillon told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM Radio Andy Show on Wednesday: “We speak like three to five times every day, but since he’s been moved to this new facility, they are putting him on a COVID-19 isolation because of the previous jail he was at, there were cases.”

“I’ve yet to speak to him since he moved.”

Dillon then confirmed that Joe “is in his own COVID-19 quarantine” as he said: “From what I know, yes. From what he told me.”

The publication revealed that TV station KFDX-TV first reported that Joe tested positive and had been transferred, however, they then corrected the report and said the star had been “transferred to quarantine”.

Money Heist season 4 ending explained: What happened at the end?

Money Heist season four landed on Netflix on April 3 and fans have already binge-watched all eight episodes over the weekend. In the new series, Nairobi (played by Alba Flores) returns after being shot while standing in a window of the bank in Spain. Berlin (Pedro Alonso) was also seen in the new series after he was presumed dead in the earlier episodes.

WARNING: This story contains spoilers for Money Heist season 4

What happened at the end of Money Heist season 4?

The new series followed on from a number of cliffhangers from the end of the third season – with Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) presumed dead and The Professor (Álvaro Morte) trying to save Nairobi.

Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) and Rio (Miguel Herrán) were busy fighting off a military tank and their lives were left hanging in the balance.

Fans were relieved to see in the new series Lisbon was alive – and following this, there was an intense rescue plan which saw Lisbon broken out of confinement.

She was rescued via a tunnel the gang had dug to the parking lot of the court, and she is then sent straight back to the Bank of Spain.

  • Money Heist season 4: Who is Manila in Money Heist?

Season four had started with the gang trying to save Nairobi who had been shot, as she had been lured to a window.

The bullet had pierced her lung and the gang began frantically trying to slow the impact of the wound.

They decided she would leave the Bank of Spain and be transferred to a hospital and get the care she desperately needed.

But it would have been too dangerous and in the end, the gang took it upon themselves to try and save her.

Fans were taken on an emotional rollercoaster as she seemed to recover well and encouraged the gang to continue with the heist.

But she ended up facing the barrel of a gun once more as one of the hostages Gandia (José Manuel Poga) had escaped and had been spying on them.

He managed to track Nairobi down and ended up shooting her in the head, killing her instantly, and fans were left heartbroken.

One fan took to Twitter to express their frustration, saying: “Jeez! I just can’t. Petition to bring Nairobi back.”

Another fan said: “What is Money Heist without Nairobi and Berlin.”

One viewer joked: “Now that you’ve quickly finished all the episodes in Money Heist 4 and have finished screaming For Nairobi!! What do you plan to do with your life now?”

Fans are also left wondering what will happen to The Professor after he was tracked down by Sierra (Najwa Nimri).

She continues to hold a grudge against him and has no issues with making him suffer, and she is seen pointing her gun at him.

Fans do not see what happens to The Professor after this and they are wondering whether he too is dead.

There is a chance The Professor could talk Sierra down and persuade her to put him to use, with fans even suggesting he could deliver her baby.

  • Money Heist fans in uproar over ‘disappointing’ season 4

Money Heist, which is also known as La Casa de Papal, could see another series but Netflix has not made an official announcement yet.

The streaming platform is likely to wait and see how the fourth series performs before making a decision, and it usually takes about a month before this happens.

The creators have hinted a fifth series could be on the cards but fans will have to wait until at least next month before the next update.

With the outbreak of the coronavirus halting all filming and production across the globe, a new series is not likely to come until late 2021, or even the following year.

Ant McPartlin causes chaos as Saturday Night Takeaway star goes missing during interview

Ant and Dec conclude this year’s series of Saturday Night Takeaway tomorrow night and in the lead up to the big finale, they’ve been giving interviews to tease viewers what’s in store for them. The pair were set to speak with X Factor host and BBC Radio Two presenter Dermot O’Leary, 46, on his breakfast show this morning. However, things didn’t go quite according to plan as Ant, 44, was nowhere to be heard as the chat got underway.

With the current coronavirus outbreak affecting all walks of life, both television and radio shows are having to make adjustments to ensure they follow Government guidelines.

This includes presenters speaking to guests from their homes via all manner of social media apps and communication devices.

ITV viewers would have seen Ant and his co-host Dec, 44, use this format to bring last week’s edition of their hit Saturday night entertainment programme to screen.

However, it seemed technology was working against them today as when Dermot tuned in to speak with the Geordie duo, Ant seemed to be missing.

  • Ant and Dec bypass highest ratings ever for Saturday Night Takeaway

Beginning the interview, the radio presenter told viewers: “Right now, we’re going to be speaking to Dec and Dec.”

With the ITV star chuckling away in the background, Dermot asked his guest: “Where is he?” in reference to Ant’s absence.

“Who knows, Dermot,” the Saturday Night Takeaway host replied, to which the X Factor presenter quipped: “He’s still asleep, isn’t he?”

“Probably, it would not be the first time,” the guest joked before his interviewer reiterated there was a missing person from the call.

“We’re supposed to have Ant and Dec on, but we can’t get hold of Ant. I don’t know where he is,” Dermot explained.

“You’re not telepathic, you’re not your brother’s keeper,” he added before Dec said it was most likely technical difficulties causing the chaos.

“Let’s be honest, we’re all getting used to Zoom and WhatsApp calling and video calling, none of us know what we’re doing, do we?”

As the presenter began to ask more about what the boys had planned for the finale of their hit series, Ant finally joined the chat.

Dermot quipped: “Here he is, has he rolled out of bed now?” to which the Saturday Night Takeaway star replied: “What are you on about, Dermot? I’ve been sat here waiting for you!”

It was revealed Ant had been ready to accept the call at the right time, but technical difficulties on BBC’s end meant he was delayed in joining the interview.

Despite all the difficulties, the pair finally managed to talk about this series, which has been very different compared to previous years.

When news of the coronavirus outbreak first broke last month, the hosts managed to keep their audience in the studio until a time the Government began to implement precautionary measures.

  • Ant and Dec fans brand Saturday Night Takeaway episode ‘weirdest ever’

Two weeks ago, Ant and Dec recorded the show live without a studio audience for the first time ever in the show’s history.

However, with a lockdown implemented just days after, last weekend’s show saw both presenters host Saturday Night Takeaway from their living rooms.

Popular segments and highlights of their best parts of the show were shown in-between pre-recorded stints to make it seem everything was live.

This format will be followed for the final instalment, which was meant to be filmed from Disney World in Florida.

Saturday Night Takeaway continues tomorrow night at 7pm on ITV.
