Alex Beresford denies GMB exit after cryptic tweet caused speculation

Alex Beresford has broken his silence over recent rumours that he is set to leave the ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain.

The 40-year-old shared a tweet earlier this week saying “Ok Bye” along with a waving hand emoji which sparked confusion amongst his followers.

However, Alex has cleared up any exit rumours and the meaning behind the farewell post his 249,000 Twitter followers.

One Twitter follower asked the GMB weatherman: “Where you going.”

Before Alex replied: “Morning Sue, woke up to a few of these. Going no where.

“Tweet was a little pick me up to my cousin who says this daily, but I’m enjoying all the assumptions.”

Many of Alex’s followers were relieved that he was staying put on the show with one person writing; “Phewww," while another said: “Glad it hear it Alex.”

A third posted: “Oh thanks heavens, Alex!…”

A fourth added: “Phew, was concerned.”

The tweet came after his fellow GMB presenter Piers Morgan was named as the winner of best News Presenter at the Tric Awards on Wednesday.

Piers Morgan’s exit from the show sparked outrage and thousands of Ofcom complaints earlier this year when the outspoken presenter disagreed with Alex.

The pair had an on-air debate over the treatment of Meghan Markle and her controversial interview with US chat show Oprah Winfrey.

During the segment of GMB, Piers walked off the show, later quitting.

Speaking out about his dramatic exit from the show, and his regret over his actions, Piers told “People who weren’t watching thought I walked off into the sunset and never came back.

“I wasn’t in control of my faculty. It was either that or give him a Glasgow kiss.

“I decided that wouldn’t go down well.”
