  • BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst was forced off air during the latest live episode of the morning show.

The pregnant star was back on television screens on Tuesday (May 23) to discuss the increase in ice cream prices.

She was reporting from location at Salford Quays but things didn't go to plan.

Kicking off the segment, Nina told viewers: "I'm treating myself to an ice cream cone shortly but Claire's prices have gone up to £3.50 for a single cone and its not surprising really when you look at the overall inflation of food and ingredients."

She added: "So overall food inflation, at the moment, shows the latest figure are at 17.3%" before adding: "excuse us for one moment."

A passer-by later came on-screen and headed towards Nina.

Nina tried to walk away from the man, who could be heard chanting "BBC" loudly.

Ever the professional, Nina continued: "What we're going to do is go to our colleague Elen Davies, she's been in Lampeter in Wales talking about not only how prices are going up but how there's a reduction in the choice of food."

Watching on in horror from the BBC Breakfast studio, host Jon Kay said: 'There is a lot of demand for an ice cream this morning.

Co-host Sally Nugent added: "Do you know what don't mess with our Nina. That's all i'm going to say.

"Nina is not alone, she has company with her. She will be absolutely fine."

The incident didn't go unnoticed by viewers watching at home and fans took to social media to praise Nina.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Nina handled that incredibly well #BBCBreakfast"

Another added: "Oh poor Nina, don't mess with her! @BBCBreakfast #BBCBreakfast"

A third person posted: "#BBCBreakfast well done Nina"

Nina recently revealed she's expecting a baby girl after announcing her pregnancy.

In March this year, she told her followers that after months of "vomiting and migraine" she discovered she was expecting with her third child with husband Ted.
