Channel 4’s new show Snoop Dogs sees pooches exploring celebrity homes – here’s everything you should know

If you love a peek inside a celebrity home then we might have just the show for you!

Channel 4 has announced a new offering named Snoop Dogs, which combines the luxe and glamour of celebrity homes with adorable pooches – does it get much better?

The show was first announced at the Edinburgh Television Festival, and the concept is pretty simple; dogs will wander around the homes of their celebrity owners with a camera strapped to their back, and you have to guess which star owns the abode.

The cute little dogs will wander about with a GoPro camera on their backs and show us all the nooks and crannies of their owners home.

Discussing the new show with The Guardian, producer and director Jamie Wightman explained: “You would expect a presenter to take you round a property and look as if they are really absorbing the things that they are looking at.

“I was hoping we could mimic that with the dog, because we have these remote camera positions where you can see the dog walking around or looking out of the window. Watching the footage you think: what a clever little doggy, look at you taking us around this house!”

So, which kind of dogs can you expect? Well, unfortunately this is something we won’t know until we watch the show, as those behind the novel series believe fans might recognise some of the pooches.

“Some of our dogs have done lots of photoshoots, so I suspect that the owners could be deciphered through the pet, if people are familiar,” Jamie continued to tell The Guardian.

“Some of them just want to go to sleep in every room,” he added.

Channel 4 describes the show as having “an innovative and barking mad” format. The channel adds: “Each episode peeks inside the homes of two much-loved celebrities during lockdown, with Go-Pro cameras attached to their pooches who guide us around their lavish homes.

"The four-legged friends will turn pup-arazzi on their owners and show us upstairs and downstairs, under the beds and behind the sofas of our favourite celebs – and anywhere else the canines fancy sniffing out.

"The identities of the celebrities are kept under wraps until the end of each episode as viewers play along to guess who the paw-sible doggy-loving homeowner could be.”

Sean Doyle, Deputy Head of Features and Formats at Channel 4, said: “I didn’t want lockdown to stifle creative conversations and Celebrity Snoop Dogs is a perfect example of a reactive and outside of the box commission.

“We’ve come up a wonderfully ridiculous spin on filming in lockdown that only Channel 4 could get away with. We hope families enjoy playing along whilst getting a healthy dose of doggy mischief and celebrities’ lush properties and home interiors.”
