Geoff Metcalfe’s (Ian Bartholomew) abusive behaviour as he has exercised coercive control over his wife, Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) in Coronation Street has been horrifying viewers for nearly a year now.
The long and painful storyline has seen Geoff set up secret cameras in their home, take control of Yasmeen’s finances and even lock her in a box.
The controlling and evil character has cemented his place as one of the most hated in Corrie, but tonight the difficult storyline comes to a dramatic head as Yasmeen is forced to lash out in self defence.
Believing her life to be in imminent danger, Yasmeen strikes Geoff with a glass bottle, causing him to slump to the floor. But does she kill him?
Does Geoff die in Coronation Street?
Yasmeen strikes Geoff tonight out of self defence before going into shock about what she has done.
A recent trailer preview for upcoming Corrie episodes show Yasmeen phoning 999 and telling the person on the other end of the call that she’s just ‘killed’ her husband, suggesting that Geoff may indeed die in Coronation Street.
Yasmeen is taken into custody and interviewed by the police about what she has done and in next week’s Coronation Street, viewers will see her charged.
Yasmeen’s granddaughter, Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), won’t be ready to see her grandma be put away without a fight and actress Sair has revealed her character will stop at nothing to finally get Yasmeen’s side of the story heard.
‘Alya wants to scream from the rooftops about who Geoff really is and what he’s done to her Gran. Imran makes a stark warning that ruining the credibility of any potential witnesses will do Yasmeen even more harm,’ she said.
‘Although Alya doesn’t want to jeopardize her Grans bail hearing she can’t help but scold her grans “friends” about how they’ve failed Yasmeen. They’ve been witness to Geoff’s belittling remarks and controlling behaviour but they all chose to ignore it.
‘Alya will stop at nothing to make sure the residents of Coronation street find out what Geoff is really like. Her first plan is to find allies and she may just have found one in Sally.’
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.
