EastEnders fans go wild as iconic couple reunite nearly a decade on

EastEnders fans were delighted to see two of their former favourite actors from the show reunite once again in a spontaneous selfie.

Nine years after the duo were last seen on-screen together on the hit BBC One Soap, Nina Wadia and Nitin Ganatra unexpectedly bumped into each other in London and took a snap to capture the sweet moment.

Nina, 53, shared the heart-warming photo to her Twitter and penned: “In a city of 8.9 million people… it was bound to happen at some point! @GanatraNitin #fated #zainabandMasood #eastenders #memoriesaremadeofthis”

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant played Zainab Masood for several years, before leaving Albert Square in 2013.

Meanwhile, Masood Ahmed, played by Nitin, 53, was her ex-husband and decided to stay in EastEnders and reprise his role on and off until 2019.

In the snap, the duo beam at the camera as Nina and Nitin stopped in the streets outside a Post Office to take the wholesome selfie. Both of the TV stars wrapped up warm for the winter outing in thick coats.

Nina’s 46,100 followers went wild for the reunion photo and fans of the soap showed an outpouring of love for the actors and their on-screen relationship in Albert Square.

Fellow EastEnders actor Ricky J Norwood commented: "It’s beautiful to see you together again".

Some soap fans even went as far as to say that they thought their chance meeting was “a sign” that the actors should reunite on screen and return to the show.

One fan penned: "It's a sign you two should be back on the square!

As another echoed: "Please come back, we need you".

A third gushed: "We’ve waited such a long time to see this."

And a fourth added: "Please go back to Eastenders so I have a reason to watch it again. Loved Zainab and Masood."

Many loyal viewers reflected on how Zainab and Masood had been their “favourite couple” on the show, even after decades of different relationships and characters.

One fan wrote: "My fav eastenders couple, wish you were still there.”

As another agreed: "Wish you two would come back to Eastenders".

The photo now has over 18,000 likes and over 200 comments of fans, friends and fellow actors discussing how pleased they were to see the duo reunited, even if it was just a passing moment.
