Priya (played by Fiona Wade) has been left with life-changing injuries after getting caught up in the maize maze fire Meena (Paige Sandhu) started a couple of weeks ago on Emmerdale. The beloved character’s back has been badly burnt and she has undergone numerous skin graft operations in recent episodes of the ITV soap to try and ease the pain. However, it seems the mother of one might already know something isn’t quite right about the villain and she could be the person to expose the killer for who she really is.
Meena set fire to the maize maze when she was trying to kill Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale), not realising other people were inside.
As the psychopath tried to make her escape after believing she had murdered her latest victim, she bumped into Priya.
The pair were on either side of the blaze and so headed off in different directions to try and get to safety but Priya found her knight in shining armour, Ellis Chapman (Aaron Anthony).
When they tried to make a run for it, part of the fiery maze fell on Priya and her back was burnt as a result of the carnage.
However, viewers have already tried to see Meena kill the beloved character when they were in hospital as she knew Priya could link her back to Andrea’s death.
The villain was stopped just in time as a doctor came in to assess Priya’s burns and to make the necessary adjustments to her medication.
It is yet to be seen if Meena will make another attempt to end the beloved character’s life when she returns to the village but she might not have long left until she is caught.
This is because Rishi Sharma’s (Bhasker Patel) daughter already has her suspicions about the psychopathic character.
Speaking with Express.co.uk and other publications, the actress who plays Priya, Fiona, shared her thoughts on the villain’s downfall.
“Although Priya and Meena aren’t best buddies, I think Priya is wary of Meena. I think she finds her a little strange,” she said.
I think Priya is wary of Meena
“They’re not best friends or anything but she could never imagine this at all. So I think it will be pretty devastating [if Priya finds out about Meena],” the actress added.
This is the cryptic clue viewers might have missed; Priya is already on to Meena but has not expressed her thoughts as of yet.
In the coming weeks, as it seems another murder is in the pipeline, the villain could go head to head with her brother-in-law’s daughter.
Although Meena might think this could be her chance to kill Priya, the beloved character could be working with the authorities.
Her whole conversation with the villain could have been recorded on a wire, with the police listening in at the other end.
This would mean just as Meena is about to strike again, the police could turn up to arrest her as they’ve heard her whole confession.
Not one to take things lying down, the villain would promise to enact revenge on Priya but will a life sentence for murder stop her in her tracks?
Meena isn’t the cleverest of killers and the authorities could quickly get the evidence they need to charge her.
The villain has been collecting trophies from her victims as the investigation unearths her box of treasures, it could soon become clear what the psychopath has been doing.
Paige, the actress who plays Meena, has previously shared her thoughts on how the trophies could be the end of her character.
Speaking with Express.co.uk and other press, the soap star said: “When she’s killed someone, when she’s committed that crime, she needs to still be involved in it.
“She wants to take complete ownership of that crime and so watching people’s reaction to that death and taking the token and being around those people.
“She’s normally very clever and the fact that she’s taken tokens from people and keeps them in a box and keeps herself around those people isn’t very clever.
“She’s like a moth to a flame and she can’t draw herself away from that fire, even though it will eventually burn her.”
Could this help Priya’s case is bringing the murderer down once and for all?
Taking to Twitter, viewers of the show are hoping Meena gets her comeuppance very soon, with Zoe writing: “How long until Meena is caught? The sooner the better #emmerdale.”
Jamal posted: “Am glad Meena is slowly exposing her true colours to everyone in Emmerdale, hopefully, the villagers will clock on. #emmerdale.”
Lauri shared: “I say it often but why has no one in this village ever thought ‘That Meena’s a bit unhinged?’ #emmerdale.”
Beck remarked: “Meena is a very good villain. At some point, she will be caught but I’m so enjoying her right now. Kim did threaten her though #Emmerdale.
