Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Metcalfe left needing medical attention after brutal soap stunt scenes | The Sun

HOLLYOAKS star Jennifer Metcalfe was left needing medical treatment after being injured during filming.

The actress – who plays Mercedes McQueen in the Channel 4 soap – hurt herself while filming a dramatic showdown between her character and serial killer Silas Blissett.

Jennifer required the help of a physiotherapist for weeks afterwards after damaging her neck during Hollyoaks filming.

Jennifer said: “We were tied up properly and in the moment, you’re trying to escape. I really got stuck in that so much.

“I ended up having to see a physio for a few sessions after because I pulled so hard on my neck.”

And she ended up exhausting filming scenes that saw Mercedes desperately fleeing for her life.

“I was like, ‘I want to do this properly… I don’t want to do any staged, fancy, no sweating running!’” she said.

“I wanted to get stuck in. And obviously I didn’t have running shoes on… I had flat boots. So by the end of the day my feet were killing. The action scenes really took it out of me!”

The big week sees Mercedes going missing as Silas makes a play to destroy the McQueen family once and for all.

And it will have dramatic consequences for them all.

When asked if her character is scared for her family, Jennifer told Inside Soap: "Yes, but she feels on her own with this situation, she knows ultimately this is between her and Silas.

"Mercedes is already feeling the pressure of being head of the family, and it's worse when lives are at stake."

And she teased a major death coming in the shocking week.
