Phillip Schofield storms off This Morning after series of embarrassing mistakes

Phillip Schofield stormed off today's This Morning after series of embarrassing mistakes.

The presenter admitted he was "holding on by his fingernails" after making multiple hilarious blunders in the same segment.

Confusion reigned after an ad break when none of the presenters started speaking during an awkward silence.

After the brief pause, Phillip said: "Welcome back. Still to come on This Morning.

Holly Willoughby burst out laughing as Phillip confessed he thought his co-host was meant to be saying the line.

Giggling Holly said: "Did you? I had a panic. Normally it is me forgetting. I thought oh my god I’m forgetting to talk on the telly again. You’re on it Willoughby, you’re not just watching."

With his head in his hands, Phil said: "I was just watching TV. Then I realised it's me, I’m on it."

As Holly claimed it was catching, Phillip jokingly added: "This looks like a good show. What's this?"

Phillip continued to stumble on his words while introducing what was coming up in the next segment.

"I’m literally holding on by my fingernails," admitted Phillip as he struggled on.

When he made another slip, he claimed he "needed a drink" before standing up and walking off the set.

Luckily for Phillip there wasn't much time left as This Morning was cut short today.

As part of more shake-ups to the ITV daytime schedule, This Morning finished early to make way for the Chancellor's Budget.

After an interview with Gok Wan, Holly explained: "That's all for now, a bit shorter of a show because of the Budget."

Taking to Twitter to complain, one viewer said: "#ThisMorning is finishing half an hour early because of the frickin' budget?"

"It’s a shorter show today because of the budget’ and my first thought was ‘Why do so many cash give aways if they can’t even afford to stay on air?’," added another.

Viewers had already been left angry at Loose Women being scrapped all week and replaced by racing from the Cheltenham Festival.
