Roman Kemp ‘prays for Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper every day’ as he recovers from coronavirus battle – The Sun

ROMAN Kemp has revealed he is praying for Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper every day as he remains in hospital following a long battle with coronavirus.

Roman, 27, became good friends with Kate following their stint on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! late last year.

And it seems the pair are still in touch, and Roman is trying his best to be there for the TV presenter during this terrible time.

"I work with a team of people who know Kate just as well as I do, as she is a radio DJ as well as a presenter on Good Morning Britain," Roman explained.

"All I can say is Kate has all the love in the world from myself and my dad and my whole family.

"‘We’re praying for her every day and we’re always sending messages and doing whatever we can to make her life any bit easier," he added during an interview with

"And I think it’s a real thing that makes everyone put their own life into perspective, because what she’s going through right now is more important than anything."

Roman's words come after Kate, 53, gave an update on her husband of more than 15-years when talking to Good Morning Britain's Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh.

In her first television appearance since Derek was admitted to hospital with coronavirus in March, an emotional Kate said: "He's still with us. He has fought the most extraordinary battle.

"But you know, the fact that he is still here and is holding on. I'm just so grateful he's still here. And I've got the option of praying and hoping.

"He is very very sick. And as time goes on, it's a virus, it's a little bit like a computer virus, there seems to be a flicker of hope and then other things emerge and he's fighting that.

"It's affected him from the top of his head to the tips of his toes."

Kate added: "He's now Covid free, the fight of the virus has been won. But it's wreaked extraordinary damage on his body and we don't know if he can recover from that.

"It is an absolute miracle that he's still here. I wish for some one, if I could just have one more."

Despite being free of Covid-19 now, the GMB presenter revealed that her husband is now diabetic, due to his ordeal.

Kate said: "MRI showed that he has damage everywhere, holes in his heart, his liver is impacted, and his pancreas . . . well, he’s now very, very diabetic which he wasn’t before."
