It wouldn’t be Coronation Street without the Barlow’s being the centre of some sort of drama. Most recently we’ve seen Tracy (Kate Ford) and Peter (Chris Gascoyne) battle it out to become the new owners of Ken’s (William Roche) house after he announced he would be moving into a retirement village, but soon the family will be receiving some sad news, as a devastating death rocks them all.
When Steve (Simon Gregson) and Tracy reveal they’re thinking of going to visit Beth (Lisa George) and Daniel (Rob Mallard) in Scotland for a few days, Emma (Alexandra Mardell) assures them she’ll be fine on her own.
Later, Emma takes Eccles and Rover for a walk, but it soon becomes clear that Eccles isn’t quite herself, so Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) suggests that she needs to see a vet. The vet confirms that Eccles has an inoperable tumour and the kindest thing to do is to put her to sleep.
Ken, Tracy, Steve and Amy (Elle Mulvaney) arrive at the vets and are devestated to discover that Eccles is dead.
When Norris (Malcolm Hebden) lets slip to Ken how local Stillwaters resident Charles made some disparaging remarks about Eccles, Ken is galvanised into action and tells Norris he’s going to stand against Charles in the election.
As Ken gets himself involved in the drama at Stillwaters, will his anger towards Charles and the comments he made about Eccles affect his campaign in the election?
