Coronation Street fans have been wondering who is responsible for attacking Carla Connor’s (Alison King) tormentors, Chelsey (Isobella Hubbard) and Jordan (James Boyland), and it appears as if the soap has just dropped a huge clue.
Carla stood up to her blackmailers last week in what was a truly spectacular scene, as Scott (Tom Roberts) and Abi (Sally Carman) kicked them out of the pub.
However, an irate Peter (Chris Gascoyne) hightailed it out of there — evidently set on a mission.
When he returned, he silenced a radio report which indicated that there had been an attack in Brightwell Estate — and the description of the victims matched that of Chesley and Jordan.
While it evidently appeared as if Peter was the person responsible— given how he reacted both prior to and after the attack — tonight’s episode suggested that all might not be as it seems.
Carla decorated the Rovers for VE Day, and Scott lent a hand by attaching banners over the bar.
However, in a truly blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, the newcomer was sporting some serious injuries on his knuckles.
Scott’s cuts and bruises were not directly addressed in tonight’s instalment via any dialogue, but one can’t help but wonder if this is an indication that he was responsible for hurting Chesley and Jordan?
What’s more, the man in question refused to take any praise for rescuing Carla during the previous episode, as he suggested Abi was the one who deserved the glory.
Could he perhaps have been attempting to divert attention from himself?
Carla later thanked Abi at the garage, but as she departed she spotted a newspaper which detailed the attack — will she discover who is responsible?
Was it Scott?
Or is Peter the culprit?
Coronation Street continues Wednesday 24 June at 7:30pm on ITV.
