Janette, 37, is replacing Zoe Ball, 50, as the main presenter of Strictly Come Dancing’s sister show It Takes Two, which she will co-host alongside Rylan Clark-Neal, 31. This means she will no longer feature as a professional dancer on the main BBC programme and she won’t be training up any more famous faces in hopes of getting hold of the Glitterball Trophy. However, speaking on Tuesday’s edition of Vine on 5, Aljaz Skorjanec’s, 31, wife admitted she would still like to take part in the group dances seen on the results show.

Speaking to the former contestant and chat show host Jeremy, 56, Janette spoke of her excitement for her new role.

“I’m so excited and yes, I have been a fan of Zoe Ball and It Takes Two from day one when I joined Strictly nine years ago now.

“I remember walking into the studio and thinking, ‘This is the best job in the world. You get to sit down and talk about dancing.

“I would love to do that someday’, so the day has come and honestly, I am so honoured and so excited,” she added.

The professional dancer was asked if she would be able to star alongside her fellow dancers in another format but the host of It Takes Two said it wasn’t going to be possible.

The professional dancer said: “No, I want to say goodbye to that legendary dance floor. I say in interviews when I’ve been talking about it lately is that is was the easiest yes to say yes to doing It Takes Two.

“But it is going to be the hardest goodbye to say goodbye to that Strictly floor. I’m still incredible friends with every single one of my partners.

“I’ve created some amazing memories and then the professionals, that’s a whole other level of friendship, they’re like my family.

“But I will get to see them, either way,” she continued, referring to how she will get to interview her friends on the spin-off show.

I’m going to sneak in

Janette added: “I’m not going to lie, the lockdowns were really hard one specifically because I missed dancing so, so much.

“Luckily, Strictly went ahead and luckily I had a phenomenal partner and got to do some amazing routines.

“But Aljaz and I are still going to be touring next year which I’m really excited about and, of course, I’m going to sneak in some shape or form to be involved with the show dance,” she said, teasing her return to the main programme.

However, she offered an alternative idea, telling Jeremy: “Maybe I’ll bring dancing to It Takes Two.”

There are more changes taking place within the realms of the Strictly world as the judging panel is also undertaking a shake-up.

Bruno Tonioli, 65, is unable to make it back to the UK due to travel restrictions still imposed as a result of the pandemic.

Therefore, the bosses of the Saturday night entertainment show have pulled Anton Du Beke, 54, from the professional line-up and changed his role.

The stalwart of the show will now sit alongside Shirley Ballas, 60, Motsi Mabuse, 40, and Craig Revel Horwood, 56.

Speaking of being appointed as a judge, Anton said: “My loves I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be stepping into Bruno’s brogues for the next series of Strictly.

“It’s a dream come true to be judging alongside the best of the best and I promise to be kinder to all the couples than any of them have ever been to me.”

Bruno added: “Whilst I am gutted to not be on the show this year there is one person and one person only that could take my place – it’s just a shame they weren’t available…haha!

“Darlings I’m kidding, I’m kidding! Seriously though, I have to tell you, Anton IS Mr Strictly and if anybody is filling in for me, it has to be him.

“I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way and I am so excited to see him waggle his paddle.”

Strictly Come Dancing is scheduled to return later this year on BBC One. Vine on 5 airs weekdays at 9:20am on Channel 5.
