THE Great British Bake Off is rising in the East for its Channel 4 return later this year — as filming is now taking place in Essex.
The famous tents, where hopefuls are cooking for judges Paul Hollywood, 54, and Prue Leith, 80, are at Down Hall Hotel.
The location, near Bishop’s Stortford, is where Jade Goody married Jack Tweed in 2009.
It’s been a hive of activity for the past fortnight as the bakers take on a host of challenges in the eleventh series.
Previously filming has taken place in the grounds of Welford Park, Berks.
It isn’t the only change this year – an extra advert break will be added.
A source said: “The first three episodes will be 90 minutes, not 75, so they can include an extra ad break. Some think it’s a clever way to pull in cash as times have been tough.”
The series, which airs in September, sees Matt Lucas, 46, join as a host after Sandi Toksvig, 62, quit.
