Tony Bellew breaks down in tears as Celebrity SAS brings back the horror of his brother-in-law plunging to death – The Sun

BOXER Tony Bellew broke down in tears on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins tonight as a high rope challenge brought back the horror of his brother-in-law plunging to his death from a balcony.

In 2017 Tony was left heartbroken after Ashley, the brother of his wife Rachael, died during a trip to Cancun, Mexico at the age of just 33.

Tonight, the grief and fear came rushing back during a task that required him to cross a valley on a rope hundreds of feet above the ground.

He broke down in tears while climbing the rope suspended 30 meters above a river.

Afterwards Tony admitted to fellow recruit Helen Skelton why memories of the death of Ashley were triggered by the incident.

He said: “Every time I look down from a height I just think about him. There’s nothing I can do. He was a nice kid, a nice boy. I can’t deal with it.

“I honestly think it’s only a matter of time before I implode.”

Fans rushed to Twitter to share their heartbreak at Tony's distress.

Also on tonight's show, Tony squared up to hardman Ant Middleton in a terrifying showdown.

The instructor was seen pushing the Liverpudlian man mountain to breaking point in a gruelling task.

Tony – whose nickname in the ring was “Bomber” – was left salivating at the mouth on the Channel 4 show and called Ant a “f***ing c**t.”

It was sparked by the instructor ordering two of his fellow recruits, Lauren Steadman and Nikki Sanderson, to carry him. That’s despite the retired fighter being twice their weight.

The former cruiserweight champion looked like he was going to attack Ant during a tense stand off and afterwards he admitted he came close to punching him.

But after the task ended and Tony calmed down, he apologised to the instructor and admitted why he struggles with his anger.

He said: “I can’t deal with my past. My missus’ brother went to Mexico for his friend’s wedding and he didn’t come home.

"He was found at the bottom of a balcony, dead.”

He adds: “I am a bit of a maniac. I have it within me. It’s only a matter of time before it erupts.”
