What is Geoff Metcalfe's secret in Coronation Street?

Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) has shown himself to be quite the piece of work on Coronation Street as viewers have seen him abuse his wife Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King).

In this dark coercive control storyline, Geoff has insidiously taken charge of his wife’s whole life – taking control of her finances and even convincing her she’s got a drinking problem.

While it’s yet to be common knowledge on the cobbles that Yasmeen has been suffering such abuse, Geoff has even more secrets than that under his sleeve…

What is Geoff’s secret in Coronation Street?

Evil Geoff has a few secrets which are yet to come to light – not the least of which being that he’s been seeing an escort behind his wife’s back.

Poor Yasmeen has no idea that her vile husband has been having dalliances with a sex worker in secret.

However, this is Corrie after all, and secrets don’t stay buried for long.

If Yasmeen does find out this cruel secret, will she stand by her abuser once again, or will that be the final straw for her?

As if that wasn’t enough drama for our nerves, there are even more secrets to be spilled for both Yasmeen and Geoff, as Coronation Street is set to expand the storyline to focus on the couple’s pasts.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, actor Shelley said on the subject of the troubling storyline: ‘Yasmeen began as quite a bombastic, strong person but we will learn more about her. As you know, her husband left, her grandson has gone away and we find out more about him next week and Alya has her own life really.

‘Yasmeen is alone in this country to an extent, she has alienated herself from her family for reasons we will learn and she is vulnerable. We will learn more about Geoff too – not to exonerate his actions but to try and look into explaining them or at least gaining some knowledge about that behaviour.’

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm.
