Alex Reid says blackmailers used sex video given to them by Katie Price in bid to extort money from him as he battles for maximum damages from his ex-wife
- Mr Reid was left ‘vilified’ and ‘denigrated’ after private information was leaked
- Former cage fighter is suing his ex-wife as he reveals he is still seeing a therapist
- Mr Justice Warby will decide how much Ms Price must pay Mr Reid in damages
Criminals tried to blackmail Alex Reid with a sex video they gained from Katie Price, a court heard today.
The former cage fighter revealed he wanted to be a ‘champion for cross-dressers’ but claims he was left ‘vilified’ and ‘denigrated’ after his ex-wife allegedly leaked private information about his personal life.
The court heard that Mr Reid had been blackmailed in 2013 with a sexually explicit video.
‘How that footage came to the blackmailers, the only feasible answer, was that it could have come from Ms Price,’ he said in a statement at the High Court today.
Alex Reid, right, claims ex-wife Katie Price, left, misused private information about his sex life. His barrister Philip Williams, told the High Court Ms Price had shared ‘something extremely private to improve her profile and for her own financial gain’
The 44-year-old told the court Ms Price’s revelations had a ‘horrendous effect’ on his and his family’s life.
It was claimed she shared information about Mr Reid at Simon Cowell’s 50th birthday in 2010, and also showed footage to the audience of Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit On The Side programme.
‘She was talking about me being a cross-dresser and said she had named her horse ‘Jordan’s Cross Dresser’,’ Mr Reid, of Aldershot, Hants, told the court.
He revealed he is still seeing an NHS therapist due to the issues that have come about since.
He added: ‘I am denigrated in the street.’
The blackmail allegation was made as part of evidence heard by Mr Justice Warby – who will decide on damages.
The judge will deliver a written ruling on a date to be confirmed.
Mr Reid was present at the London hearing, however neither Ms Price or her legal team appeared.

In November, another judge had ruled Mr Reid was entitled to damages.
Today, Philip Williams, Mr Reid’s barrister, told the court Ms Price had shared ‘something extremely private to improve her profile and for her own financial gain’.
He said: ‘It would be an understatement to say it has had a devastating effect on him.
‘No matter what money is ordered to be paid he just wants his life back – it has been devastating.’
Mr Williams accused Ms Price of being ‘arrogant and brazen’ and showing contempt to the court case.
He also read out part of Mr Reid’s witness statements.
The court heard: ‘I was absolutely horrified by the fact Katie was holding onto this footage.’
Mr Reid’s witness statement claimed: ‘I was also blackmailed in 2013, they ended up being prosecuted.
Katie Price, pictured, was accused of being ‘arrogant and brazen’ and showing contempt to the court case by Mr Williams, after she failed to attend today’s hearing. It is understood she denies passing sexually-explicit footage to Mr Reid’s blackmailers
‘How that footage came to the blackmailers, the only feasible answer, was that it could have come from Ms Price.’
It is understood Ms Price denies this, and says her iPad was stolen.
The court heard: ‘Katie’s publicist also told me that Katie had shared sexually explicit material to Katie’s hairdresser and their friends.’
Mr Williams explained this was ‘to make Mr Reid’s life as horrible as possible’.
The couple married in 2010 in Las Vegas, but divorced the following year.
The court heard Ms Price had been revealing private information about Mr Reid over the last decade.
The judge explained Mr Reid had sued Ms Price, alleging breach of confidence, misuse of private information, breach of contract and misuse of data.
The hearing was told Ms Price was bankrupt and Mr Reid would join a ‘line of creditors’.
Outside the court Mr Reid said he would be contacting his MP and the CPS again over the allegations.
He said: ‘Even though today was a small victory, I have so much more which needs to be heard.
‘I have not done any of this for revenge, I have done this to move on with my life and to protect my child and my unborn child.
‘I have always tried to be the kind of guy to put my head down and keep moving forward.
‘To protect my future, I had to stand up to her.’
