BOLLYWOOD heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput has reportedly taken his own life.

The 34-year-old actor died at his residence in Mumbai.

Who was Sushant Singh Rajput?

Sushant was a prominent Bollywood actor. His latest role was in 'Chhichhore', a box office hit released in 2019.

His debut in Bollywood was in 'Kai Po Che!' in 2012, and from there he starred in high-profile movies and TV shows.

The actor was best known for his role in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', in which he played the role of India's revered cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

On his death, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote: "Sushant Singh Rajput…a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films.

"His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances."

Fellow Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar posted: "Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless

"I remember watching #SushantSinghRajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it.

"Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family."

Did Sushant Singh Rajput have a wife?

Sushant was rumoured to be dating Rhea Chakravorty.

The couple were pictured together in Mumbai on several occasions, but denied being in a romantic relationship saying they were just good friends.

In January, Rhea posted on her Instagram page for Sushant's 34th birthday.

She wrote:"Happy birthday to the most beautiful "supermassive black hole" that is known to mankind! Shine on you crazy diamond @sushantsinghrajput #boywithagoldenheart #rheality".

Sushant dated Ankita Lokhande for six years, his co-star on TV programme Pavitra Rishta. The couple separated in 2016.

How did Sushant Singh Rajput die?

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in Mumbai.

He is believed to have taken his own life, according to Mumbai police.

Rajput's death comes after his former manager Disha Salian, 28, died after falling from a building in Mumbai earlier this week.
