Police searching for deputy headteacher, 51, who went missing from her home during lockdown find body

POLICE searching for a 51-year-old deputy headteacher who went missing from her home during lockdown found a body yesterday afternoon.

An appeal was launched yesterday for information to find Donna Gadd, who was last seen at her Burnley home around 5am on Tuesday.

Police confirmed a body was found yesterday afternoon in the Sabden Fold area and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Maria Ellel, headteacher at Wellfield Methodist and Anglican Church School in Burnley, where Donna worked as deputy head, confirmed the grim news today to parents.

She said: "It is with great sadness that I write to you this morning to inform you that our colleague and friend, Mrs Donna Gadd, Deputy Headteacher at Wellfield, passed away yesterday.

"Once we are back together as a school community we will find a way of remembering her in school.

"Until this time, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers."

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "Sad news folks, a body found yesterday (Tues) afternoon in Sabden Fold is thought to be that of Donna Gadd, 51, who was reported missing from home in Higham yesterday morning.

"Her family have been informed and our thoughts are with them.

"Her death is not being treated as suspicious."
