UK weather – Brits to bask in three days of glorious 20C sunshine this Bank Holiday weekend | The Sun

BRITS are set to bask in three days of glorious 20C sunshine this Bank Holiday weekend.

As the country gets ready for the last long weekend of May, warmer conditions seem to be making an appearance at just the right time.

The pleasant weather seen this week is set to continue with sunny spells forecast until Monday, say the Met Office.

Forecasters say that high pressure, which has brought the fine conditions, will carry on throughout the Bank Holiday.

Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge revealed that weather in the mid 20s could even be on the cards in southeast Wales on Saturday and Sunday.

While other areas of the UK are set to bask in 20C conditions.

London, Plymouth and Brighton will all enjoy sunny spells over the long weekend.

And most places will reach the high teens with dry and bright weather looking likely to continue.

Met Office chief forecaster Paul Gundersen said: "The jet stream sitting to the north of the UK is holding unsettled weather systems at bay and allowing high pressure to dominate bringing fine weather to the vast majority of the UK.

"Therefore, we are not likely to reach heatwave conditions, but temperatures will still be warm reaching the low 20s for many, particularly in the South West and southern Wales."

Today will see similar conditions with temperatures feeling cool and fresh under cloudy areas.

Brits will feel warmed up as the day goes on with temperatures just hitting the 20C mark in some parts of the country.

Southampton and Cardiff as well as other areas in the South will see the best of the weather today.

Meteorologist Claire Nasir said: "Strong sunshine in the forecast through the rest of this week, across the bank holiday weekend and even beyond.

"Now, that does mean some high UV and burn times will be even along the coast with the reflection, the sun, the sand and the seas.

"Now, this settled weather is all courtesy of an area of high pressure which extend from the Atlantic."

The Met Office forecast added: "Remaining settled over the weekend and bank holiday.

"Plenty of sunshine although cloudier in the northwest with patchy rain at times.

"Feeling warm, but often cool at night."
