Woman hurls oxygen tank at oncoming 3 train, causes small explosion

An unhinged woman hurled an oxygen tank toward an oncoming train in Brooklyn, causing an explosion on the subway tracks, police said Wednesday.

Witnesses said the woman was acting erratically while standing on the northbound platform at the Nevins Street station in Fort Greene around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday when she suddenly chucked the container toward an express 3 train pulling into the station, according to police.

There was a small explosion on the train tracks but no one was injured, according to police.

It is unclear why the woman had the medical tank.

Trains running along the express track were delayed following the incident and instead traveled along the 5 line from Nevins Street to 149th St-Grandcourse, according to the MTA.

Police are still looking for the woman.
