Mike Tindall has revealed he first met the late Queen as a teenager during a visit to his old school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the latest episode of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, the former rugby ace explained that he met Queen Elizabeth II\u00a0long before he joined the royal family, aged just 13.<\/p>\n
The husband of King Charles’ niece Zara, stopped by his former school, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Yorkshire to meet with his childhood rugby coach, Trevor.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Father-of-three Mike, 44, gave viewers a tour of the school, which was founded by Royal Charter of Queen Elizabeth I in 1591.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But it was Queen Elizabeth II that Mike as a child met during her visit to the school in 1992 for its 400th anniversary, a moment he does ‘remember very well’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The former rugby union star recalled fond memories of his school days, and proceeded to make a humorous remark about his wife Zara.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mike showed viewers a photograph of Queen Elizabeth during her visit to the school in 1991.<\/p>\n
While Mike did not appear to be in the photograph, he reminisced on the event and said: ‘I think I met her [Queen Elizabeth II] in biology’.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then, the rugby star made a humorous remark about his wife of 12 years, Zara.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He joked: ‘Not entirely sure whether I said to her then that I would marry Zara, it might have come out my mouth, I’m not entirely sure.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former England rugby ace met Zara during England’s Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The couple tied-the-knot in a low key ceremony in Scotland in 2011.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The video release comes just days after\u00a0Mike joked he has ‘had beer goggles more than most’ while appearing on Good Morning Britain today.<\/p>\n
He appeared on the programme last week to discuss his podcast tour as well as his new ITV reality show Grand Slammers.<\/p>\n

Mike was a guest shortly after a segment on beer goggles, which is a term coined to describe how the influence of alcohol can make an person appear suddenly much more desirable.<\/p>\n
After hosts Rob Rinder and Charlotte Hawkin jokingly asked if he had any comments to share about the topic, Mike weighed in: ‘We’ve all been there, me more than most, most likely.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Appearing on the programme, Mike was described as an ‘England rugby legend and a royal husband’.<\/p>\n
He began by telling the presenters: ‘I was a bit worried when I came in. And then there was this serious discussion about beer goggles which made me feel far more comfortable in the environment.’<\/p>\n

Mike is known for his playful and partying ways, previously revealing how he and Zara had a ‘boozy’ first date.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the couple also partied until 2am the night before the King’s coronation earlier this summer.<\/p>\n
He is believed to have had a good relationship with Zara’s grandmother,\u00a0 previously paying tribute to the late Queen on his podcast.<\/p>\n
Last September, he said:\u00a0\u00a0‘It’s been sad, emotional but happy. In some ways amazing. To see the family come so close together overnight.<\/p>\n
‘You never predict it. A 96-year-old lady, you know it’s going to happen but you’re never ready for when it does.<\/p>\n
‘Watching what Zara had to go through, obviously she loved the Queen beyond everything else. Their connection with horses, they had a real bond around that.<\/p>\n
‘It’s like the world has lost its grandmother in some way.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
He continued: ‘I also have loads of regrets about not asking her so many more things\u2026 Having nervousness when you sit there get that lucky seat of being sat next to her.<\/p>\n
‘Going back through history and everything she\u2019s possibly seen; 15 prime ministers, I don\u2019t know how many presidents.\u00a0<\/p>\n
