Virgin River fans might have already determined the identity of Mel Monroe\u2019s (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) real father ahead of the rest of season five.<\/p>\n

In the climactic final moments of the midseason finale on Netflix, Mel receives an earth-shattering phone call from her sister Joey (Jenny Cooper).<\/p>\n

She reveals she\u2019s been going through their mother\u2019s closets and stumbled across a number of revealing letters.<\/p>\n

Their mother was, in fact, having an affair with someone in Virgin River – not only that, but that person could be Mel\u2019s biological father.<\/p>\n

Mel was just as aghast as the show\u2019s fans as the latest episode sets up a thrilling mystery to be solved later in the year.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

However, some of the show\u2019s most attentive viewers think they\u2019ve already cracked it.<\/p>\n

They believe Mel\u2019s real father could be none other than Nick (Keith MacKechnie), a local businessman who has taken an interest in Jack Sheridan\u2019s (Martin Henderson) new glamping venture this season.<\/p>\n

Nick has been a minor player so far but received a damning description from Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) in Virgin River\u2019s first season.<\/p>\n

In a recent Reddit thread, user Complete-Road-3229 predicted: \u201cI think it is Nick. He’s known as \u2018handsy\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

To which Unonuon retorted: \u201cBut never seen as \u2018handsy\u2019. It\u2019s funny he\u2019s \u2018handsy\u2019 in the books and actually gets \u201chandsy\u201d with Mel at the bar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they just mimicked the characters but forgot about it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Nick could certainly be in the right age range to be Mel\u2019s father, although there are plenty of other potential candidates.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Unonuon also suggested: \u201cBest choice would be Doc (Tim Matheson), but then he already has a secret love child.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlie\u2019s (Patrick Keating) an option, or Nick. Boring,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

\u201cFunniest would be Calvin (David Cubitt)<\/p>\n

so Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) could be Mel\u2019s stepmom,\u201d the user then joked.<\/p>\n

Although, they also conceded the culprit could simply be a \u201crandom guy we\u2019ve never met.\u201d<\/p>\n

Virgin River season 5, part 1 is streaming on Netflix. Part 2 will be released November 30.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
