A GREAT grandmother who won \u00a3333,000 on People's Postcode Lottery will only take home a third thanks to an age-old pact.<\/p>\n

Thelma Lewis, 81, signed up for the lottery scheme after her two daughters and one of their sisters-in-law started playing four years ago.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

But the group decided they would split the prize if any of them won.<\/p>\n

That means that when she won a whopping \u00a3333,333 Postcode Lottery's weekly Millionaire Street prize on September 23 – only a quarter was her's.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI threw the phone to my daughter when the lottery phoned to tell me. I thought it was someone mucking about.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had been about to cancel it, too. I won\u2019t be doing that after this.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to help the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren.\u201d<\/p>\n

And she laughed: \u201cI might like a holiday, but I haven\u2019t got a man to go with me and I don\u2019t want to go on my own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thelma will share the pot with daughter Kay English, 55, her big sister Helen Williams, 57, and Kay\u2019s sister-in-law Ann Hughes, 71 \u2013 each bagging \u00a383,333.<\/p>\n

Mum-of-two Kay \u2013 who plans to help her family and push on with renovations at her new home – said: \u201cHelen started doing the Postcode Lottery first and I signed up a couple of weeks later. We mentioned it to Ann and she started, then my mum.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe said if anyone had a small win, they would just keep it. But if it was a big win we\u2019d share it between the four of us. But we never thought we\u2019d have all the threes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a shock, but it has brought sunshine into our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cWe might all go on a cruise together to celebrate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mum-of-one Helen \u2013 who lives in the same street as her mum, but has a different postcode \u2013 said: \u201cWe\u2019re shocked and overwhelmed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Great gran Ann added: \u201cI\u2019ll sort my two boys out and think about holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n
