Angela was 31 and presenting BBC One\u2019s Nine O\u2019Clock News when her high-kicks on Eric and Ernie\u2019s Christmas special first stunned the nation.<\/p>\n
The sketch, consistently voted one of TV\u2019s most memorable moments, starts with her reading the news before she pushes back the desk and breaks into a \u00adsizzling dance routine in a tight-fitting ivory dress.<\/p>\n
Angela said: \u201cIt\u2019s incredible to think it was almost 50 years ago and yet people still remember.\u201d<\/p>\n
The skit made her an instant sex symbol \u2013 and fans reckon her Strictly routine shows she still has what it takes.<\/p>\n
Angela said: \u201cSex symbol? It\u2019s a huge compliment, but a big surprise. I am enormously flattered. I mean, who wouldn\u2019t be?<\/p>\n

But I decided it\u2019s a privilege at my age and I am wearing the fact I\u2019m 78 as a badge of honour.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can\u2019t write people off because of what it says on their birth certificate. I am a great advocate for our ageing population.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd if you are able to do something that is fun and not a chore, like \u00addancing, and I can get that across \u2013 well, that will be my glitterball trophy right there.\u201d<\/p>\n Plymouth-born Angela is determined to keep up the hard work. She said: \u201cI am in the \u00adstudio six hours a day and it\u2019s a physical effort.<\/p>\n \u201cBut I am loving every second of it and learning so much. It\u2019s great for the body and mind and the whole thing is bringing me unbridled joy. I hope some of that inspires others and shows that your senior years don\u2019t have to be isolated and lonely.
