A \u201cBRIGHT and beautiful\u201d student nurse died after consuming a toxic substance bought on the dark web, an inquest heard.<\/p>\n

Bronwen Morgan, 26, passed away by suicide just four days before her birthday after suffering from mental health issues, Pontypridd Coroners\u2019 Court was told.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

The Cardiff University student had been diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder.<\/p>\n

Coroner Graeme Hughes said: \u201cBronwen died from suicide and her self-harm was a deliberate cause of her death.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emotionally unstable personality disorder \u2014 also known as borderline personality disorder \u2014 is a condition that can cause intense and overwhelming emotions.<\/p>\n

Often these can swing drastically and make it hard for people to cope day to day, according to the mental health charity Mind.<\/p>\n

It affects around one in 100 Brits and can cause problems with feeling isolated or abandoned, self-harming or suicidal thoughts.<\/p>\n

Patients can have difficulties with diagnosis because the symptoms overlap with other mental health conditions including bipolar disorder, psychosis and depression.<\/p>\n

Bronwen was diagnosed in 2019 and died on August 27, 2020, after multiple attempts to take her life, the inquest heard.<\/p>\n

She had told her father Haydn she was going to a friend\u2019s house on the day but never arrived.<\/p>\n

A message to her pal said she \u201cdid not want to be found\u201d.<\/p>\n

Police traced her phone to a Premier Inn in Pentwyn where she was found unresponsive.<\/p>\n

She was taken to University Hospital of Wales where she later died.<\/p>\n

Pathologist Dr Alex Lawson gave her cause of death as sodium nitrate toxicity.<\/p>\n

Bornwen was engaging with mental health services ahead of her tragic death, the court was told.<\/p>\n

In the days leading up to her death, Bronwen complained to Cardiff and Vale health board about her package of care.<\/p>\n

Mr Hughes ruled her diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder was correct and misdiagnosis had not contributed to her death.<\/p>\n

She received \u201ca significant package of care and there were no failings in the package of care\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Speaking to her family, he added: \u201cThe anguish and distress you have been through cannot be put into any words.<\/p>\n

"And while you might not agree with my findings, that does not mean I do not have the utmost sympathy for you and all the family.\u201d<\/p>\n

After her death, Bronwen's relatives described her as "the greatest sister, daughter and friend."<\/p>\n

Sister Tesni, 24, said: "We are heartbroken to say that our beautiful Bronwen sadly passed away on Thursday, after fighting so very hard to battle with her mental health.<\/p>\n

"For those of you who knew Bron, you\u2019ll know she was the most beautiful, thoughtful, inspiring and loving person. We as a family are broken.<\/p>\n
