Cancer: Doctor confirms risks linked to red meat consumption<\/h3>\n

A healthy diet can help you shield from a variety of serious health problems, including cancer.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, a doctor has shared with Express.co.uk simple dietary tweaks that could do this with gusto.<\/p>\n

Dr Sunni Patel, from Dish Dash Deets, said: \u201cWhile there is no single food that can guarantee the prevention of cancer, a healthy diet can certainly help reduce the risk of developing cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

1. Drink green tea<\/h3>\n

While your go-to choice may be the classic cuppa, green tea is packed with antioxidants, known as catechins, which may offer \u201cprotective\u201d effects against cancer.<\/p>\n

The doctor said: \u201cAntioxidants help neutralise harmful molecules called free radicals that can damage DNA and other cellular components.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis damage can lead to mutations and increase the risk of cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Use garlic and onions<\/h3>\n

Packed with sulphur compounds, the popular cooking ingredients could reduce your risk of certain cancers, especially those found in the digestive tract.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more, garlic and onions can be a cheap addition to many different dishes.<\/p>\n

3. Eat tomatoes<\/h3>\n

Tomatoes are a good source of lycopene, which is an antioxidant that may help lower the risk of prostate cancer.<\/p>\n
