{"id":81909,"date":"2023-11-25T07:01:35","date_gmt":"2023-11-25T07:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/posterboyedit.com\/?p=81909"},"modified":"2023-11-25T07:01:35","modified_gmt":"2023-11-25T07:01:35","slug":"leaked-document-shows-manchester-uniteds-2004-transfer-targets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/posterboyedit.com\/lifestyle\/leaked-document-shows-manchester-uniteds-2004-transfer-targets\/","title":{"rendered":"Leaked document shows Manchester United&apos;s 2004 transfer targets"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Leaked document shows Manchester United&#8217;s 2004 transfer targets including a Premier League legend who led their rivals to glory\u2026 but Sir Alex Ferguson&#8217;s side were able to land three names on their shortlist<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>A leaked document shows Manchester United&#8217;s transfer targets for 2004<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>United signed Gerard Pique but they missed out on Vincent Kompany\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Nobody&#8217;s fooled by the nature of Man United&#8217;s performances this season \u2013 IAKO\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A document that previously leaked online shows Manchester United&#8217;s transfer targets in the summer of 2004.<\/p>\n<p>United went into the transfer window having missed out on the Premiership title to Arsenal&#8217;s Invincibles, although they did win the FA Cup, and Sir Alex Ferguson was eager to strengthen his squad further.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by Sportbible, the document shows that Ferguson has identified five players that he wanted to bring to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>He succeeded in signing three of them &#8211; defender Gabriel Heinze from PSG, a young Gerard Pique from Barcelona and forward Alan Smith from Leeds.<\/p>\n<p>However, United weren&#8217;t able to secure deals for defenders Philippe Mexes from Auxerre and Vincent Kompany\u00a0from Anderlecht.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/24\/16\/78205539-12788099-image-m-2_1700844715184.jpg\" height=\"450\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>A leaked document has shown Sir Alex Ferguson&#8217;s Manchester United transfer targets in 2004<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/24\/16\/78205441-12788099-image-m-4_1700844750743.jpg\" height=\"406\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>United succeeded in signing Gerard Pique, a talented youngster at the time, from Barcelona<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/24\/16\/78205647-12788099-image-m-6_1700844827752.jpg\" height=\"453\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>United also managed to bring in left-back Gabriel Heinze from Paris Saint-Germain<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>France international Mexes went on to sign for Roma in 2004 before heading to AC Milan.<\/p>\n<p>Kompany, meanwhile, remained at Anderlecht until 2006 and then joined Hamburg prior to signing for United&#8217;s rivals Manchester City, where he became a legend and enjoyed much success.<\/p>\n<p>Heinze made 83 appearances for United before leaving for Real Madrid in 2007, while Pique played just 23 times but went on to become a superstar at Barcelona.
