Today, Stone Island opened its archival exhibition titled, Select
Marking the second Frieze Art Fair in the capital of South Korea, the immersive show from the veteran Italian luxury brand not only offered a deep look at Stone Island’s catalog but also added to the contemporary art fair’s robust nature. Impressively, the exhibition marks Stone Island’s largest installation in Asia to date – featuring over 70 signature pieces throughout its entire 41-year history. Of course, recent items will appear in the mix, but the exhibitions even include pieces from the brand’s debut Spring/Summer 1982 collection.
Across the array of pieces that span for decades, the exhibition focuses on key groups like the Pure Metal Shell jackets, Prototype Research_Series and the brand’s experimentation with reflective fabrics and Ice Jackets. Alongside the display of clothes and history, the exhibition is set to feature a conversation with Stone Island’s chairman, Carlo Rivetti, on September 5, alongside an archivist event led by collector, Archie Maher, on September 6.
