Appliances like blenders should be cleaned adequately after each use to prevent residue from turning into mould, but the machinery is notoriously tricky to wash in a short space of time.
This is because the recipients blend sticky ingredients like peanut butter and dates, leaving residual paste plastered to the walls and sharp blades.
Although some blender canisters are dishwasher safe, the vast majority are not, while those that are take up inconvenient amounts of space.
To save both time and energy, a content creator has taken to social media and shared a simple hack to get the job done in less than 10 seconds.
The hack, shared by the content creator behind the TikTok account Clean That Up! has racked up more than 73,200 likes, leaving fans baffled.

“So here’s a quick cleaning tip I use after making a smoothie,” the TikToker explained, giving his dirty blender canister a quick rinse before filling it with water and dishwashing soap.
“Put a squirt of some Dawn Cover on,” he adds as he puts the container back onto the blender and switches the machinery on for a few seconds.
“That should be just about good, so here’s the top nice and clean. Give it a quick rinse and good to go,” he noted.
Many seemed surprised by the innovative hack, despite blender companies often recommending the cleaning method in the instructions on their packaging.

“I thought everyone did this,” quipped another person, which several other people echoed in the comments thread.
Another advised: “Don’t forget to clean the plastic ring inside the top. Mould will form in there. I clean it each time.”
One viewer explained that they add a few ice cubes to the liquid for “scrubbing and blade sharpening,” while several people admitted that they’d refrained from using their blender because they hate cleaning it so much.
